I know the feeling. The one I hear most commonly is "what is your contingency plan, when your kid gets sick?" Or "Do you think it's wise to be returning to the workforce so soon?"

Anna's had kids? Doesn't look like it

No kids. Just the not in the work force for 3 to 5 years part.

isnt this in SA? I think Nick and Luke are pooling.

then you need a bigger wardrobe.......................it never ends.

I'm thinking of road tripping it if The Ark is ready by then. Most enticing part is wine country :D

Yes, I know. When I run out of space for my shoes then I have to get a bigger cupboard in a bigger house. I REALLY wanted to win Powerball last night! I had it all figured out what I was going to do with the proceeds.

What would you guys do with 1M? I am awaiting Tony & Ants responsible answers.

no annual leave?

You don't get annual leave from kids. It's like a 25 to life prison sentence. You eventually get to go free....when you're too old to use it :P

If the Ark is up to it do it. But who's gonna take care of Tyler :glare: ? SA is a loooooooooooooong way Chants.

Yes, wine country indeed. Get your hands on Barossa Valley Elderton estate 1999 CSM (cabernet sauvignon merlot) one of the best wines I have ever tasted.

I always dream of wining a large prize of money i.e. 5m lotto prize or something like not (35m which is unrealistic) and had many discussions with my wife.

TBH 1m theses days doesn't really go that far when you already have a family and a mortgage but this of course will vary amongst individual lifestyle(s).

If I did win -

we would build a (much bigger) house to our liking that would have a really awesome 5 space garage with a hoist

we would then refinance our existing home and negatively gear it (I would have to do the calculations to work out the quantum of the loan to obtain the optimum tax benefits) - rentals in that area are very strong (due to its close proximity to schools, major shopping center etc...) and would help balance out some of the loan repayments

I would also ensure that we get the existing house valued before it becomes available for rent - that way any CGT payable in the future will be significantly less for its time classified as an investment property

with any excess cash left over (if any) we would guarantee to put both our children to private schools and maybe purchase some new daily vehicles (something like a Toyota Prado nothing fancy)

and unlike many other dreamers - I would still keep working (probably not my wife) as 1m by then would be pretty much gone.

there you go Chants hope that gives you an idea of what I would do with $1m gainful win and how far it would go.

Actually I have plenty of annual leave - the only reason why I have so much is because I predominantly have not been able to take holidays since Emelie was born. But we plan on going back to Europe this December / January :turned:

1M would go pretty much no where these days.

Accountant answer achieved. You have levelled up. You are now Mega Accountant :P

You can get a nice ish townhouse around this area for around $300,000 but that does not provide me with places for cars or shoes. I'd probably shop around and see if I could get a house with a bit more room.

I'd also get a cheap daily. Nothing fancy, probably just a cheap little Lancer or something. Budget: 5-10k

Fix this monstrosity of an Ark: $6k

Pay off the bills and finally free myself of the poor financial decisions that 18 year old Chantalle made.

Private school tuition for Tyler and some cash aside for Uni/Car if we're lucky.

high interst term deposit.

live off interest once paid.

say 5yr term.

work the first 5.

pull out anything over the original mil, then repeat.

with a mil I would pay out my home loan and spend a bit redoing the inside. I would get the GTR the way I wanted it. Buy the daily I want, most likely a forester xt. Then buy another house either to live in or rent out. Education for kids is already sorted so aunt thing else I would probably use to set my self up for consulting in water quality services.

My sister and brother in law did that. They had 1.7m after selling a farm and left it in ING while they looked for a new one. They said it was the best steady income they ever had lol. About 1000 bucks a week from memory.

thats what I was thinking.

if you end up making it your soul income, tax shouldnt hit you too hard, more like tax on a wage.

I was pretty jelly. They were getting only a little less than me for doing nothing.

That's their future too when they sell the current farm. Pretty sweet retirement coming up!

. Even if you did find a u beaut term deposit that paid you say 8% p.a. that's only 80k then account for approx 20k in tax and that's just over $1100pw. You would not be having much of a lifestyle and would no doubt be chewing into your savings. Especially if you plan on having a family.......I'm sorry to say mr Luke but that's just not sustainable!

    • Hi all. Been a while but things are moving along. I just have something that I am wondering about. Since I will use OEM turbo oil pumbing, I got myself a new bolt, the one that goes into the engine block oil feed. As I recall (and see visually) this bolt comes restricted with I think a 1.7mm hole? Not quite sure but it was something around that size. The turbos have 1mm restrictor bolts installed, as necessary due to ball bearings and my higher oil pressures. Can I now just use that OEM bolt with the 1.7mm hole in for the engine block or will this actually be too much oil flow restriction and I have to drill it out first? In my head it would make sense for the bolt to be at least 2mm wide as both turbos take "1mm of oil flow". Do let me know if my logic is flawed here, I just want to make sure I don't kill my turbo bearings with too little oil. Don't know if I can trust the saying I read somewhere that ball bearing turbos essentially only need an oil mist

    • Yeah based on old XRC5964S specs, it looks to be roughly GTX3576R sized? But this 5964S compressor will flow 90lb airflow somewhat similar to the compressors in both the GTX3584RS or G35-1050.. I fully expected the 0.64 rear A/R to choke up top - seems way too small from typical convention - but these are seemingly beneficial over the prior 0.82 results.. Be interesting to see if he comments on the EFR question in that thread - he mentioned in a prior video that BW EFR's were the "cats pajamas 10 years ago", but by the sounds of things all his kits have been using Xona for quite a while now.
    • Yeah it’s still got the oem manual gearbox and clutch, only kinda mods are a blow off valve, coil overs, and a aftermarket intercooler. Also had it for about 2 months now with a lovely midnight purple paint on it.
    • Yeeeppp, been following a lot of the testing on the latest Xona stuff and there are some mental results.  He also went over 1000hp @ 4 hubs on his Mainline with a XRE6364S (63mm) which was also well into the 20psi range before 4000rpm on a 2.5. Crazy stuff. Fwiw the XRE5964S is basically the modern equivalent of their old HTA3582 - would drive nicely enough on an RB25 or 26, but proven capable of a huge amount of power if you want to spicy with rpm tho even at sane boost levels will make stout numbers
