video conversion?

hey guys and gals, i am needing help from some of the more tech minded peeps in here, and those that know there photoshop kinda stuff......

on my new digi camera, i can take vid clips yadda yadda yadda, BUT they are taking in Quicktim format, now this is well and good if i wanna just keep them to myself, but i want to share around, and they are just huge in file size, im talking 8 sec is like nealy 4 meg or something

how can i convert the file TYPE to a WMV or MPEG etc... so its smaller to post somwhere or email around....i dont really care if some quality is lost as long as i can still see what it is

Not many progz will decode Quicktime. Acid Pro4.0 has an mpeg decoder that will do it. big download (around 40 meg from hosed out memory). does the job easy but can take ages on slower hardware.

just looking on kazaa and the likes..i have win 98 SE and most of them are saying that the acid prog is for XP ????????

Easy stuff.

Have a look on www.vcdhelp.com

Go to their 'tools' area. Download the freeware version of TMPGCnc and also get the plugin for MOV files (also freeware).

Load it up and away you go. It'll let you convert MOV files to MPG.
