Recommended Posts

check below is a pic of the engine plate. this is a 2 seater 1988 model. PZ refers to being the 2 seater.

z31 vin number

re the pics of the engine comp, basically if unbolt it off frame of the car (easy should be 2 bolts) then lay it on the carpet, i need close up photos of both sides of all 4 plugs that go into the ECU. just identifies possible problems with my wiring as non of my colour coding matches, and i imagine yours will be the same as mine. email them to me and as hi res as possible would be great!!!!!! hopefully finally get this old dog going properly.

to give you an idea here is my ECU at present....

z31 ecu

and that is 10x better than when i got it. and it at least runs now - sorta...

Hey ! I just came across this conversation while doing some web surfing. . . . I have a 200ZR in Adelaide.

I have had it for quite a while, unregistered and uncomplied. . . . my garage queen. It is a four seater, auto and came to me from a small time car dealer on the north coast of Honshu, Japan - who I buy interesting cars from when he gets them. He told me that they were very rare in Japan even when new.

My issue is compliancing - particularly the rear seat belt mounts. If any owner with a four seater could send me a photo of the rear seat belt set up for Aus I would be very grateful. I was considering removing the rear seats and claiming it as a two seater. I tried sitting in the back yesterday - could only fit if I turned sideways with my head twisted to the right with my chin touching my chest - got no idea why they bothered putting those seats in the back.

Photos on my web site . . . My Webpage

I have seen another 1 in Adelaide at an importers but it was a little rough.

Cheers

Dave

Damn, Ive been on this forum ages and only just noticed this thread.

Ive got an 86 (at least I think it is an 86?) 200zr over here in Perth, had it for a few years now.

Pretty stock except for the following:

-R33 turbo - 10psi

-Pod filter

-SAFC2

-Supra FMIC, 2" stainless piping

-3" inch exhaust from turbo back

-Tein springs, bilstein shocks, drift pineapples

She is up for sale very soon though, would have loved to have done an RB25DET conversion.

Yet to be dyno tuned, only real engine mods are ported and polish exhaust ports, r33 turbo, walbro 255lph pump, malpassi fuel reg, apexi avc-r and have a NIStune ECU for it also to go in... It feels fairly quick now, quicker than my R32 so at least 150rwkw I would imagine.

Snap.

I looked far and wide for the last of the "true" (straight6) zed also and ended up with this 200ZR 2 seater specimen in 2004.

If I am interpreting the chassis # correctly it was the 36th ever made, all my other cars had many many more clones come before them compared to this one =)

Unfortunately I got run into in march and it's been declared a total loss by the insurance company; Try finding any panels for these beasts from the windscreen back, it's not fun. =(

More pics of my old daily -before- the smash - skylab.bitstripped.net Z31 200ZR

Matt.

Hi mate you might remember I actually have your old 200zr and over 10 years later I've had the time to give her the love required

    • Surprisingly the D6000 is only $1999, I'm waiting for the BF/CM sales, and hoping to get one cheaper. D4000 is well priced, still outperforms the 13" SVS PB-3000 and is like 1/2 the price at $1699 RRP. I do watch a fair amount of movies, and listen to EDM, jazz, symphonies, etc. so the lower notes from a subwoofer are always appreciated. The front 8" stage, just doesn't provide you with lively feeling, even though they are pretty bassy for a pair of large bookshelves. Then again, these days it's just playing Wiggles, Blippi and Ms Rachel, another reason the 3m wide cabinet exists, to hide all the audio gear behind it. They used to sit on a nice pair of stands, but as you know, they make good baby traps too.
    • Granted, which is a solid reason why I don't have one. My floorstanders are only -2 dB at 22 Hz.  So they're still working down to <20 Hz. Which is no doubt part of the reason why my receiver shits the bed! That Tonewinner would be about double the cost though, so it's not apples and apples. There aren't many AU$1300 subs (that you can buy prebuilt, I'm ignoring what can be achieved by DIYing) that compete.
    • -6dB at 22Hz isn't that great, watch the data from the D6000 from REW
    • I'll just leave this here. https://www.adelaidespeakers.com/subwoofers.html TL loading, big power. They sound awesome. This is what I would buy if I was going to try to take the bass away from my floorstanders. Just go with the 12".
    • I'll snap up some photos when I'm back home, in the office today meeting my "in the office" quota. Have 2x Teams calls scheduled in, office culture they reckon.   I've never owned a proper off the shelf sub, I've always made or modified broken ones with Jaycar plate amps and/or car subwoofer drivers. The current (and broken) subwoofer has a proper home driver in it, Dayton driver, thos one https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/118/rss265hf-4-10-reference-hf-subwoofer-4-ohm FS of 25Hz, which is low but not low enough. Yeah, I think they were brought out to the market to compete with SVS. I would love a SVS PB-3000 but they're not cheap, especially after their price hike. From reviews online, it does look like the Tonewinner D6000 would destroy and with good amount of money saved too.
