Most of the stuff here is from the male point of view. We gentlemen love our Stageas for what ever reason.

For the last twenty years my wife and I have been driving an RMR30 Ti Hatch. and lately (cringe cringe) a

Suckaro Forester. The 30 is 4595 long, the Suck is 4450, ths S1 is only 4800, that is only 205,. about 8"" than

the 30, yet my wife thinks it soooooooooooooooooooo BIG?

What do your equals think about the Stagea size? Is it to big? Too Macho? Too much Boy Toy? Is a Double Unicorn too much for the 21st. century woman.

I was worried the missus would be fuming about driving the Stagea; she loved the grunty of our VR SS sedan and was pissed-off bigtime when I went up to Qld for the day to buy the Stag. But we needed a wagon and I convinced her that a R33 Skyline-derived wagon was what was meant to be.

But she's a fan for sure, it aint too big at all. Wife is only 5ft2~ish but keep in mind the Stagea is no bigger then a VS Falcodore wagon. Liking it so much she doesnt mind the odd mods Ive been adding here and there, and you gotta appreciate that! :O I just keep telling her to 'use the car' when shes driving me, ie tromp it.

my girlfriend is the same on the rare occasions she drives my Stagea, don't try and run her at the lights...you'll likely be stomped by a 5'3" brunette who'll then give you the finger.

she loves driving it,but isn't game to back it into the garage...

Not too big, depends on what you are used to but there is quite a few house wives rolling around in Landcruisers and Patrols, now that is scary! Even worse, Ford Terribles!!! They are like arm pits around here!

i reckon they seem big because u look behind ya in the back and the interior looks heaps long, when compared to a sedan style car anyway, even if the car itself isnt any bigger externally it still feels longer.

stagea has exactly the same wheelbase length as my vs commodore which is surprising. overhang at the rear is alot more on the stagea though.

My wife loves the practicality of the wagon, combined with a bit more poke than she was used to. She is really concerned about the economy, but is happy when I explain it will go better and use less fuel when I put in the DFA and IEBC sitting in the garage. I was waiting till I got the split dump pipe & exhaust, but I might just have to bite the bullet and install them.

My wife is 5' and likes driving the stagea - she reckons it's the best car I've ever got for her. She now all but refuses to drive the R34, and doesn't want to go to a smaller 'fuel efficient' car either.. Hasn't even complained that I got her the manual version..

She likes the handling and the space in the back for shopping.

Thus the R34 has only done 500km in the last 6 months, and I'd sell it except no one wanted to buy it off me (ie see http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...opic=98570&hl=) !

So a great car for the wife!

Hi, Skidkids wife here.....After driving a 91 Corolla and a 91 4Runner in past 4ish years, the Stagea (which is "my daily driver" but we do have a few discussions about this!!!!) is the comfiest, and easiest car to drive that I have driven, although abit like SKA's wife I will drive around to find a carpark that I can easily get into, cause I find it a bit hard to judge where the ends of the car are, particularly the back, probably cause it stops so abruptly....but I did have the same problem in the 4Runner. It's easy to get the baby in and out of and it great having a big cargo area, the pram and the shopping fits in easily, as a matter of fact we should probably do more shopping!!!! The young guys especially get a bit of a shock when I beat them off the lights (only up to the speed limit of course!) and the Stagea is a bit of a novelty here with ours the only one we have seen in our town.

so i presume you have a car seat installed in the car? If does the car comes with a harness at the back of the boot so that you are able to hook the baby seat up and secure it? or you have it installed yourself? Cos i will have two kids byh the end of november.

When my S1 was complied, three child anchorage points for car seat/capsule

fixing were installed. It is part of the DOTARS protocol for child safety.

There is quite a list of things you pay 3 grand for.

Alex if you have a fax i'll send you a copy.

maybe you should ask "Wildcat" she seems to be getting pretty excited about her stagea arriving

hehehehe :) is it that obvious??? hehehe yes looking forward to having a stagea esp a wagon....i have been driving a shitter falcon fairmont for about 2 years now and its a tank... the skyline was good especially with two little ones in the back in baby seats, but there was NO room for pram or shopping so became very annoying! i am very much looking forward to get my baby on the road this week so i can drive and drive and drive.... :)

I CANT WAIT...saw her at quarantine last week and wanted to take her home but couldnt :) counting down the days until i get here..... ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

haha

i taught my ex to drive in my stagea a bit...

she was scared to get over like 20 km/h and then in an industrial lot i told her to floor it while we were doing slow speed stuff. Shat her pants when it came on boost and since is scared to go over 50.

She was amazed that when i got back into it, romped the foot on it, stepped it out (wet) and off we went. Got a smack in the head for that one as well  (worth it)

Stagea isnt that long. As long as it isnt LOW too, you are all fine. My only issue is with the back and how its so flat. I cna never judge well reverse parking with a car behind me.

Whatever, most of the time i am going -> anyways.

    • There is a LOT of stuff that can be done, it all depends on how much time and money you want to spend on doing in.  Not all ECUs will be able to do it, and the more control you need the more time and knowledge needs to be put into making it work.  If you're willing to spend the time and money and have the right hardware and skills involved there's a lot that can be done.
    • I am impressed with all this level of adjustment. I didn't expect all this possibility
    • Correct.  In the case of the 500kw dyno plot I showed you the car actually runs two boost control solenoids for boost control and a 5psi wastegate spring.  It allows me to control how much boost pressure is applied to both sides of the wastegate valve at any point and fairly accurately control boost target as a result. I've tuned it so that it's able to target anywhere from 5psi to 25psi depending on what's needed.  The target tables I've set up in that car are Gear vs RPM, so every gear has potential for a different boost (and torque) curve.   First and second gear have quite low boost targets, third gear actually has different target boost all the way through the rpm range as it's a stock RB25 gearbox - the boost targets have been chosen to maintain a peak of 600nm (what the owner has set as the maximum torque he's happy with putting through the stock 3rd gear) but it carries that to the rev limiter.   The boost curve to achieve that is something of a ramp up, then hold, then ramp up again and the power curve looks more like a flat line haha.
