What about Apexi AX53b60s?? They seem pretty good. Street machines up here in Brisbane had them on a blue R32 a few years back. It made 330kw at the wheels and by all accounts the boost response was great! I think they are expensive but :(

I find it very hard to beleive a set of turbo's small enough to spool up as quick as GT-SS's would be able to make anything near 530RWHP at 20PSI....

Contradicts many other GTR's ive seen with N1'S, GT2530's, TDO5's and even GT2540's. All of which are bigger and laggier than GT-SS, but can flow a LOT more BHP.But none of which make anywhere near 530RWHP at ONLY 20PSI!!!

Sounds like a very friendly dyno reading IMO... :(

well believe it or not but i have multiple dyno sheets from different workshop and all are post on this forum and i have repeat the success on a number of gtrs to gain the 500rwhp plus you do need cams ,injector and afms but i am baffled why people pick the gt-ss over the gt2560r as i have not seen a gtr produce more hp or torque under 5000rpm then mine, that is why i use these turbos for street and track purposes as turbo responce and bottom end are my biggest needs. But i am only making a possible alterative it might be worth contacting JAGr33 as he was running Trust turbos at about the same level of performance 530rwhp but has since changed to gt2560r due to the lightning turbo responce they give as maybe a independ opinion might be what you need. But seriously for your own sake give they turbo a good looking over, Garret know what there doing

Jacks (JAGR33) car is an awesome car, with good power, but its not as responsive as my GT-SS, built and tuned by the same workshop, both are great setups but they have thier differences, i have more down low, but Jack has more up top..... but even Jack isn't making 530rwhp... but that could just be our dyno reading low compared to yours...

Sounds like GT-SS it is. How much do they go for? Also what about just high flowing the stockies with steel wheels and ball bearings

I'm running stockies with steel wheels & ball bearings on a Standard engine. 250rwkw @ 16psi. Still a long way from your desired 300. Go with an Upgrade.

Fair enough, but 530RWHP is 395RWKW, i know of several GTR's with this much power that have run a 10sec quartermile. But all have had to sacrifice low end torque and response as the turbo's needed to produce the required power levels are big and laggy.

But somehow your turbo's defy physics and have achieved what no other GTR owner has yet to. Near standard boost response with the added bennefit of enough topend power to run 10sec quartermile times and all at a lowly 20PSI.

Call me a sceptic, but a GTR with a 2.7Jun and HKS 2530 turbos, with cams and afms and all the bells and whistles, built and tuned by CRD, cant match your power figure at 20PSI and is not as resonsive as a GT-SS equipped GTR.

So quite frankly either your car aint makeing 530RWHP on a legitimate dyno, or the turbo's you use are laggier than 2530's.

Seriously bloke, you need to have bit of a think about what you are saying. Have you ever been to Hyperdrive, or seen their dyno? Do you even know what type it is? Or do you just assume that it is all broken and wrong because it doesn't match your preconceived notions. Do a search and you may even find the Pete's dyno chart. You may (If you know what you are looking at) be pleasantly surprised by the linearity of the power curve.

As for 25-30's well, old school tech is just that - old school. Turbo charger sizing is not the be all and end all in determining their response. :D

Fair enough, clearly ive not experienced the results you guys have.

Ill have more of a read up on Garret GT2560R 707160-5 turbos then, and have a closer look at te dyno graph you mentioned.

Didnt mean to upset, just a big statement to promise near stock boost response but able to generate well over 500BHP at the wheels.

Might have to give Hyperdrive a call when my HKS turbo's need replaceing.

Cheers.

I guess we also have to remember that JAGR33 and I take our cars to the track (circuit). A lot harder to make a car last around a circuit, than for a 10sec dyno run or 1/4 mile...

Looking at pnb's sig, 125.17mph(@480rwhp) ... so about 360rwkw with 125mph, i *think* that looks about right so dyno's probably reading fine...

Go the GTSS!

They are what everyone says they are...

Fast spooling, good street level power output.

I got mine from Greenline for $3700 (including GST at customs).

Dont go the rebuilt stock route..I did at first and it was crap. Go for the good stuff straight away, save you time and effort in the long run and better off money wise.

Cheers

ok guys i'm not wanting to have to go through and justify myself all over again i have the graphs form different dyno plus the 1/4 time and speed to back it up (yes if i tried a bit hard at the drags i could run a faster time but i dont want to buy special tyres or destroy a box to do it i have big issues to spend my money on at the moment)

i only tried to bring to maz attention another option and i believe a very good option as for gt2560r or 2530hks making the hp you need to remember two6l 450awkw and 10.3 1/4 mile and my car is not unique there a number of car run this power on similar sized turbos.

there are a few thing i have done different on my rb26 that may explain the extra rwhp but the shit i copied on early thread i found it not worth it.

So take the advice or leave it, it's no skin off my nose but i would think twice before having a go at a company like Hyperdrive.

ps best of luck with the upgrade

Thats on race fuel Pete, you know that as good as anyone else on this forum

Its awesome power, just dont forget your not comparing apples with apples....

unless you used race fuel aswell for your 390rwkw?

And are the turbos your using the same as Jack? (i cant remember )

no bp 98 like it saids in my threads plus my point was 450awkw even on race fuel a big figure for 2530hks that brought back to 98 would run well over mine.

I still think you cant go past the Garret GT2560R 707160-5 turbos for std motor

they spool every bit as good as the gt-ss and have better top end for less boost and are more friendly to the pocket (these are the r34n1 turbos with the 0.6 comp housing not the 0.42)

on std internals and 20 psi i have made 530rwhp and have run them on the car from basically since day dot when the r33 gtr was stock std.

That part number is a 2860R...not a 2560R

I have seen the 707160-5's make 700hp at all fours. They are a brilliant turbo but have a very deceptive power curve. Smooth and gradual rather than the sharp smack you get from the 2530's.

I have also seen 400hp at all four on a 32 GTR running N1's at 16 psi. These are also a good option if you are after something for near stock response. These are a 707160-7

Both are $1350 each so the choice is....do you want to have a smooth, gradual power curve or a sharp tyre tearing power increase at 4.5k

My 2c

That part number is a 2860R...not a 2560R

Ok this is the strange thing with these turbo I am quoting the number physical stamped gt2560r 707160-5 on the turbo BUT the garret website list them as you said gt2860r 707160-5 go figure the reason I keep quote the gt2560r number is so when someone pickup a set they will know they are the same.

Pete

3li3 32 as you mentioned the smooth linear power curve makes these perfect for street/track use as they deliver power early and smooth and very predicable so you can the maximum down to the ground.
