Hey guys, i purchased a hole saw to cut the piping hole under the washer bottle and to be safe i asked the sales person at bunnings for 3 1/2 inch so the FMIC pipes dont scrape or rattle... they gave me a 92mm which turned out to be 3 5/8 inch... I placed the hole saw over where I need to make the hole and it JUST scrapes under the washer bracket.. in other words the hole will clear the washer bottle but just barely... Is that too big?? I know most people use 3" but what other sizes you guys use?

Not bothered returning it :D

Cheers

Haha thanks Madz... i read in a few threads that 3 1/2 inch was too big :D im worried that my 3 5/8 hole will be too big too... but it seemed fine when dummy fitting it under the washer bottle... i dunno mate

Cheers

Yea might just go and exchange it for a 75mm (3 inch) hole saw...

But few people have said its a tight fit with 3" and others say 3 1/2 is too big... and when i dummy fit the 3 5/8" hole saw it seemed alright... :

ok, i just went out and did some measuring. if you have the top of the hole saw where the top of a 3" hole saw would sit and just cut the hole there. if you look in the engine bay from the top you will see where the hole will go, and below it is a shelf. that shelf is about 100mm below the top so there is room.

This is the diagram from the HYBRID install guide.. if i raise the center by a few cm it should clear the 92mm hole... lol well lets hope so :D

I wouldn't want to move the hole so the cross pipe doesn't hit the fan blades which will be clipped.. i think i should save myself the head ache and just get a 75mm hole saw...

you lost me there with the fan blade bit. do you mean when you finally punch through are you worried that if the hole was accross any more it might damage the blades? you could just do it when you take the fan out to trin the blades. (easier to take the fan out to get an even cut on all blades as its only 4 bolts)

Yea if i was to take the hole any closer to the front it would bring the crossover pipe close to the blades and also throw the mounting bracket out off alignment with the engine head..

Im pretty sure if i follow the HYBRID guide it will all line up sweetly...

what i meant is that the fact that the hole was that much bigger than it needs to be that it wouldn't matter if it was moved slightly. if the hole was a tight fit then it would put the mounting brackets out of place, but as the hole is way bigger than it needs to be, so if it is moved it won't make a difference as the piping would still have quite a gap before it touches the edge of the hole.

    • What can't be done with a little bit of decking board or similar timber bolted to a hub flange via 2 wheel nuts is not worth talking about.
    • I noticed something. On the tps sensor and the sensor behind the adjustment screw is adjusted towards the far left. Are these screws supposed to be centered? (this sensor was in the same position before the tune as well)  Also attached a photo of where my car usually idles at when warm (sometimes a tiny bit above that). I think I might have screwed up the calculation and it might have better than I thought lol at 750rpm still not 650rpm though.
    • So for both general interest of engine health, and to rule out any coolant/oil issues, I organised an oil analysis done on the 125,000klm oil Results below, all good, just a bit of fuel dilution which I'm not too worried about
    • This is actually a really good way of measuring what wheels fit. If only there was a similar measurement between hub face and suspension :p That said, it's probably pretty simple to actually measure it all with the wheel off the car for the rear. The front is a bit more complex but..
    • Being the top Google search result for R34 wheel-related inquiries, lemme throw down my experience. I calculated that 100mm from hub face to wheel face is about the perfect fitment for my ENR34 sedan.  I've been running 18x8.5s, ET35, with a 1" spacer. So, 8.5in to mm = 216mm. 216/2 = 108mm. 108-35 = 73mm. 73+ 25 (1" to mm) = 98mm.  If you wanna get close to this on dif widths, here are the offsets you'll want: 9" - ET around 15mm 9.5" - ET around 20mm 10" - you're crazy, but ET around 30mm All these should fit perfectly on a non-widebody, non-GTR Skyline. Note that it's probably the absolute max, and you're probably better off running a couple degrees of camber in this config, but it looks great, super flush.
