Hey guys

Just letting everyone here know that we (GtirOz & EvolutionOz) are holding an lvma/skidpan day at mt cotton on Saturday the 8th of July

Anyone from Skylinesaustralia is welcome to to come along, just pm me if you are interested. There will be evos, gtirs, silvias, wrx's etc....

An LVMA is a Large Vehicle Manouvering Area. It is where Semi Trailer drivers are trained to handle their rigs, so its quite a large area.

Usually there are around three events set up on it, a timed slalom, a timed motorkhana, and an untimed motorkhana on the training road.

We will be running this section similar to what we have done of WRX Club Days in the past. It will consists of 3 simultaneous activities (2 x different timed driving motorkhana type tests, 1 x windy hillclimbs). This means that the group would be split into 3 evenly, and you would rotate in your groups between each activity for the duration of the morning

The skidpan is basically a figure 8 track which is sprinklered down with water, so you can slip and slide all you like, it really shows you the limit of your car, and can really help with your driving.

The LVMA session will be in the morning, with the skidpan following in the afternoon.

you can do either one, or both of the events.

Location:- Mt Cotton Driver Training Center

Date:- Saturday 8th July

Cost:- heres some info from one of the organisers

For the LVMA area you really need min 15 cars to make it feasible and no more than 24 cars to ensure everyone gets plenty of play time. Skidpan bookings allow up to 12 people.

LVMA $1056 (no max participants but suggest no more than 24)

SKIDPAN $1056 (max 12 participants)

So assuming that we get around 15 people for the LVMA, it will be $70.40 per person

And with 12 people for the skidpan, it will be $88

Noise Requirements:-

1. The Hirer acknowledges that all invitees and participants of courses are advised of the Centre's noise management regulations prior to the commencement of any activities. Participants or vehicles not meeting these regulations will be denied use of the facility.

2. Noise measurement:

Engines to be measured as follows (in accordance with Australian Design Rule standards):

i) 5 cylinders or less @ 4000rpm.

ii) 6 cylinders @ 3500rpm.

iii) 8 cylinders @ 3500rpm.

iv) more than 8 cylinders @ 4300rpm.

v) rotary engine @ 4500rpm.

The measurement will not exceed a noise level of 90db(A) @ 3m 45degrees from the exhaust

the LVMA isnt tested, but the skidpan is because it is closer to a residential area.

i will be bringing along my 3ccd digital video cam and tripod, and will copy all the footage to dvd for people

please post if you would be interested, money will need to be put down as soon as next week, as a deposit is needed before the 9th of June

    • It doesn't really answer your question...but is the head unit full android or just android auto, are you happy with how quickly it boots and responds, and do you have a link?  If we can identify good Android alternatives it will really help people stuck with Japanese screens. Did it have a separate reverse camera input so you would replace the factory one, or are you just going without now...that would be a pretty big steps back. And finally, do you have a picture of the "wire" that you can't plug in? Most likely it is some sort of aerial that is not too important eg japanese traffic or am radio or something if you haven't noticed a functionality issue
    • haha funny enough I did ask him wtf he had been up to with the electrics....but no answer
    • For a daily just run Akebono ceramic pads. That's what they're optimized for. Obviously don't try to run it on track or anything like that.
    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
