Hi

I'm pretty new to Skylines Australia, I joined a long time ago but now I am looking to buy a Nissan Skyline. I am in the process of selling off my 180SX, i loved it, my first real car.. But it would just never end.. From the first day I got it, i kept pouring money into it. Always wanted to do more and more, wanting more power or this or that etc etc.

I now want to relax a bit and get a nice car not to old and for now doing a couple of mods and keeping it like that. Another reason is the whole Police and defect situation here in Victoria!

So I thought now would be the best chance to see what u guys suggest I should get...

I really want an R34 GTT :)

But I drove a Supra Twin Turbo last weekend and loved it! So now I'm real keen on a GTR! R32 of course. But as I was saying I want to kind of lay off going nuts and spending everything I have on my car(for now!), so I think getting a GTR will just make me wanna go crazy again!!

Even though the R34 is a bit more in cost, with just a couple of mods and nice wheels they look mint and go alright as well, and from other posts i've read is a good handling car too.

Anyway thats enough of from me!

Thanks

ok GTR is out!

I want to start investing my money to other things at this stage in my life, but ur not gonna see me driving in a ford or wateva else just cause i'm trying to take it easy now!!

I wanna get something, do the usual mods.. Exhaust, cooler, boost, suspension... ooops its already building up hahaha

I'm also more concerned with the handling and the drive, a lot more over the straight line.

Slim is right..dont buy a r32 gtr if you dont want to pour a lotta money into the car.Plus for a car that age, there will be costs with maintaining it as I've learnt the hard way..I had my r32 for a month and already spent more than $3K maintaining it.

Yeah i've been hearing a lot of that with 32 GTR's, i would love to have one.. But yeah they are getting old now

I'd be shattered if I got one, then end up in the same boat just trying to maintain it or even worse having the engine go on me.. I know its happened with a few 89's that came over

U should get an R34 gt-t, i have owned one for a year now and iam very happy with it havent had a single problem with it yet it has grat power and great potential with little mods and also great handeling better then the supras, stock u'll be getting close to 150 atwKw with a cat back close to 160 if not a bit more, i ve beeten a lot of cars with it including R32 gtr roling point of course, money wise a better oppinion but then again in the end its what ur hart is set on

got an r33 myself - so far so good...but in the process of hunting a suitable exhaust for it. Not planning on doing excessive mods, but just enough to keep it running great - more of a fan of keeping it in mint condition - so thats where my saturdays or sundays go...

i have had my 32 gtr since january ( i got it imported ) and am yet to spend a cent on it except for a normal service which costs bugger all more than servicing a commonwhore or falcadore the only other thing i have spent money on was a stereo and speakers so not all of them need money spent on them all the time

The 240rs stageas came with rb26 already in them (stock).. Otherwise most of them are rb25s..

AHahh once you buy an import, you not gonna stop with the mods list. It goes on and on and your temptation will be overturned with new mods each month!!

All the best tho..

haha so you're giving up on the 180 hey dude... when i come and pick up that stuff from you this week i'll take you for a drive in mine if you like... but if you don't want to spend anymoney, just buy something and leave it dead stock. Skylines are pretty unbreakable if you leave them stock. Every mod you do to it is going to increase the chance of it breaking.... keep that in mind :)

Here we go again...

I agree totally, if you buy a good, well cared for R32 gtr, it won't cost you a heap of cash to maintain. It's only when you get the BUG and start improving it or upgrading things, when costs start to soar, as with any car.

What do you expect when you buy a early R32 gtr for 20K or less? Remember how much they were new???

It will not be in mint condition so budget at least 5K for turbos, suspension and other wear items. Those old ceramic turbos could let go if boosted, and cost you lots more when you destroy your engine.

running costs are

All I can say is go test drive a GTT, Ive just imported one and I couldnt ask for more. The Plan is Im just going to leave it stock but yeah we'll see how long that will last haha. Thats a nice looking 180 by the way good luck with the sale hopefully you'll be in a line soon.

R34GTt is a nice car but don't have a lend of yourself thinking you can beat a R32GTR.

R32 is around the same weight, more powerful and is 4 wheel drive. Maybe the person driving the R32 GTR that you say you beat, didn't care if you passed them.

There is noway you can compare a GTT to any GTRs, GTR will just walk all over GTT hands down especially a r32. The only way a GTT can beat a GTR is when it is parked haha :) .

get a late model R33 GTS-t

1996+ can be had in original stock condition for $16Kish

Manual R34 GTTs are still up around the $25K+ mark arent they? I reckon the R33 Series 2 reprasents awesome value at current prices.

beleive it or not they also had a rb20det option, there was also a rwd option not just awd and the only factory manuals came in the 240rs (rb26 option)
