Is it going to be better then the Porsche 911 Turbo that is available now for 340K AU$

Similar specs if what you guys are saying is true. 3.6L Turbo 330+ kw etc 4wd driveline, except the Porsche has variable housing geometry, 650NM from 1500-6000rpm.

You have to remember that the 996 911 Turbo is about to be replaced with a new 997 911 Turbo with over 350kw. And where the 996 911 has a 4WD system like a GTR, with the rear getting a fixed % of the drive until wheel spin occurs, the 4WD system in the 997 will have no fixed distrobution, rather it will continuously vary where the power is going to get maximum possible traction. So like an EVOIX active yaw control system on steroids. So that would make it even quicker, if not more fun. Plus they will no doubt release a 997 911 Turbo S at somepoint, probably with around 500hp (375-is kw if I remember rightly). Plus never underestimate the torque of a 911. Or any Porsche of any power output.

So don't be too quick to say it's better than a 911 Turbo. It's the best car in the world after all!

(Maybe a bit of an overstatement, but you get the point :) )

After talking it up that much, I might go and buy a Porsche now...

Totally agree with that. Unless Nissan come up with a 4wd system (and suspension setup for that matter) that is far superior than that in the R34, then it won't even come close to the new 997 911 Turbo. Porsche just seem to be able to build something special everytime. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does.

Yeah i think it may be a bit early to start comparing it to the Porsche, it has been a long time for this GTR release, its being compared to the 996 911 and other makes but once it does come out there will be the 997 911 turbo.. So its like Porsche will be one step ahead

No doubt this car is going to rock the world! They easily survived over 10 years with the same 2.6 litre straight 6 Twin Turbo and now... They going to hit us with a 3.7 Twin turbo motor. I'm also really curious about the exhaust note this new GTR will have.

Maybe I should just go everything I have in and buy this car haha i'll b in my jocks driving it around

Cant wait to see it in different colours!

looks great... as everyone else said, I prefer it far more over the proto... but yeah, it will need something special to be quicker and better than a 911 turbo... I think Big Rezza had the right comment, best car in the world. I’m sure it will keep up with the porka with a 3.7TT but will it have trick suspension and the right handling to get in front? I guess only time will tell…

In any event, since it now seems to be carrying a skyline logo, would that indicate possibly having a lower spec GT-T model? After all I definitely can't afford something within the expected price range of the new GT-R as I assume a fair few wouldn’t on here, but would be just as happy with a slightly lower spec, single turbo, rear driven version… or is the current V35 the closest we will get to that?

just remember.. the R34 was made in the late 90s...

its now 2006, so don't expect that nissan has been sitting on their hands for the past 10 years with regards to handling etc.

i'm guessing its not just the engine output that has gone through the ceiling

i thought it was confirmed by Goshn (sp?) that it will be a Nissan GTR and not be related to the Skyline, as it wasn't derived from the chasis?

Hence no lower spec version, you'd have to get a V35 350GT to be next step under the GTR i'd guess (or of course the 350Z)

read the write up on the new 997 911 Turbo in the Sun... :P sounds like a monster.

I reckon the new GTR will be able to up to the task... it's not all about power... especially when it comes to the calibre of a GTR or 911 Turbo... gotta have the whole package if you want to play in that league...

With regards to SEVS, that strictly with regards to private imports? Nissan OZ will be able to sell it here earlier than 2 years after Japan yeah?

it doesn't share anything with the current V35 Skyline (chasis wise) - there won't be a lower spec model, as there has never been with any other GTR.

That's in regards to say single turbo etc, it's going to be a Nissan GTR - how can you have a single turbo Nissan GTR? From the Skyline line-up, yes, GTS-T, GT-T - but this is not a Skyline.
