I agree with you Michael I have swaped my R33 GTR for a TT Supra just two months ago, definately better than the GTR (in my point of view, stronger over all), I am really impressed with the supra, and people who talk here without knowing, you really have no Idea until you sit on them both and thrash them both like i did. And people who think their gtst can keep up with a tt supra you are dreaming. People on this forum don't seem to like the Supra, maybe cos they know inside that the Supra is a better car. I admit it after owing the two cars.

I own neither a GTR or a TT Supra

So can't comment, I drive a gtst and would run a TT but unless he was stock and I had mods galore(hehe which I don't) he would have to be a crap driver to loose.

From what I’ve read the Supra engine out of the factory is a stronger built one to that of the GTR. But saying that reading up on many tuners comparisons of the two engines they would still take the RB26 due to it being a race bread engine.

Say what you want a GTR is a car built for the track that you can own and drive on the street, while a Supra is a sports car that can be transformed into a car for the track. Pure and simple.

Just look at the size of the factory intercoolers you get on a Supra, its those shoddy ones in front of the wheels. The GTR comes with one of the best out of the factory intercoolers. Even the standard breaks (i heard don't quote me on this one) aren't in the same league as the standard GTR items.

Thus it shows one is a purpose built race car and the other a great sports car.

And don't compare a race car ability on the track to that of a sports car based on someone’s inability to drive it the way it was designed to be driven. That’s an utter load of crap.

First of all the Supra intercooler is good for well over250rwkw, even the GTR intrcooler has to be removed when pushing more power, and as for engines the 2JZ GTE was definately made to be abused check this out Can a GTR do as good as this on stock internals/OEM I'd like to see just one pushing this much power. http://www.to4r.com/to4r.html to me it seems that the Supra is more of a drag car, GTR a circuit car but it can be transformed into a drag car if you are willing to spend a lot of money into the engine, gear box......... And as for breaks they are bigger on the late 94.

The first few weeks I had with my Pulsar GTiR, I raced a TT Supra at the lights.

It was the closest race I have ever had in the car, but I did slowly but surely pull away from the guy.

The Supra had an exhaust, bov, etc.. the pulsar was still dead stock with catback.

Go figure.

The Supra driver was pissed.

I have owned a skyline and now own a RZ TT and the Supra and the GTR are different cars.. But a supra can hold its own against the GTR and in regards to how much power a 2J internals can handle Stock..As elGTR said look at this site and look at this particular car of Mike Carlins 980rwhp with OEM pistons and rods

To find what Supra's are really capable of look at the US Supra.. They have put more R and D into them then anyone.. Apart from Japan..

I like how all the expert opinion between the a Supra and a GT-R is coming from people who have never driven or owned either car.

You can argue if you wish but both are different cars and don't even start on the GT-R being the ducks nuts as the quicker cars around a track...the Supra wasn't built to be a track car but plenty of them running around JGTC.

Also the stock internals on the 1JZ...before we even talk about the 2JZ will hold 500hp+ :D

yeah but the Air force wil ship if back for free..i just gotta make it emissions legal...thats whay you pay for throiugh motorex, shipping and emissions regulations.....and like i say i refuse to pay 95 grand for a car i can get for 20

It's more than that if you want a Skyline in the USA.

First of all no Skyline was ever made for left hand driving so all Skylines must be converted before you can even think of driving it on the road, also you have all the little afty bits and doo tads to do.

Also to add, most of the stuff used for converting a Skyline to lefthand drive doesn't come from Nissin as they don't have any parts to convert a Skyline in the first place so Motorex has had to made up their own parts for the Skylines to get it safe and converted.

And then you'd need your emmissions charts etc then you could see about getting it rego'd.

As far as I know there's only 3 companies across the USA that are allowed to convert a skyline for the USA, the most known and most trusted is motorex, the others people arn't too sure about The smallest has a real dodgy website that says they can import and convert Skyline in the USA it's also the cheapest say $40-50,000 to convert a R33 GTR.

To convert a R34 GTR your looking at over $100,000+USD to even start to think about getting one for the street that's why not many people bother with Skylines in the USA the convertion prices alone can be dearer than buying the car itself.

I'm not in the USA though but there are forums in the USA that have stuff in them about costs for converting Skylines etc, and if your baulking at that $100,000+USD then I'd say to you to forget about having a Skyline in the USA as it seems the convertion price doesn't go below $30,000USD.

The supra though was sold in the USA and that's why it has a big following there.

In terms of this thread though,

I think both cars end up being exactly the same, both cars can be modded to the max, and both cars will do certain things slightly better than the other but both don't really have anything over each other.

If I had the choice I would own either one, as they end up being exactly the same.

It's only down to what brand of car you really want.

I totaly agree with ya there Zagan

you throw the same suspension at a gtr and a supra and the gtr will lap fast

you throw the same power level at both cars and the gtr will lap faster again

and generally when your talking about a power up the gtr(street) will run a better quater mile

ive driven both many times

were talking road cars hear not the JGTC

i find supra owners are very touchy about there cars and always talk up the rwkw were as the gtr owners go to the track and talk up the lap times.

mind you i wouldnt mind a supra for a fun track car ... great for burnouts!!!

fatz, I know where you coming from...to be honest I too wouldn't choose a RZ for track work as there are better cars to choose from. But that is not to say they can't work the track. I mention JGTC as an example, and don't say you guys weren't comparing the extreme as you have just above...if money was not a question. When your talking about circuit racing, when has more power always resulted in a faster car, that's just a plain silly comment as well as how the suspension are setup as they are driver dependant. There is only so much power one should run in a circuit car between different circuits. I can give you plenty of examples where a 400ps car has clocked a good 3-4 sec faster than a 750ps car of the same make and model...could be driver skill, could be tune and setup etc.

I too love the Supra, like any street car...good 400ps setup is enough and plenty fun. Plus the car looks sexy and as already mentioned the chicks love them :D.

As stated above a few times.. the two cars are different.. But the Supra can be made to be a great circuit car... im not knocking the GTR but most cars be it a Supra a GTR or whatever can be with the right $$$$ be made into a great curcuit or drag car.....

Granted that the GTR has better handling out of the box than a supra, thats jsut fact.. but out of the box the engine internals of a supra are stronger ... .. Which goes to show that each car is different and are better in differernt departments.. Overall they are both great Jap cars.. the likes of which we probably wont see again
