Speedometer Playing Up

Hi,

the speedometer on my R33 isn't working very accurately. when i accelerate it seems to go up fine, but when i slow down, it takes a few seconds before it realises that i'm slowing down and shows on the speedo. also the speedo does not go right down to 0 when i have stopped the car.

So just a bit worried as to what speeds i might be doing really. anyone else had this same problem? if so how did you fix it. easy cheap fix or not?

speedo is electronic so the needle mechanism is sticking like some older cars I know. Pull out to fix, not sure what to use to free up bushing for the needle though. Know what I mean?

you mean to take out the dash cluster and clean it up?

I reckon.

Check for stupid stuff like bits of lint wrapped around the needle shaft.

It will probably free up with a liberal, but careful, dose of WD40.
