Exhaust Wrap

At the GC Autosalon the red R33 had a coarse cloth like wrap on the exhaust, when I asked him about it he said it is a shelf product that you soak in water, then wrap it up, any idea what the sticky stuff is? I know the cloth is what I call a heat blanket.

its just the friction and tightness of the wrap, and then hose clamp the ends, seems to stay tight for me

Yep, much like say a tennis raquet grip. If you wind it right, it aint coming off.

I know from using heat blankets on work pieces that they dont stick to to job, I assumed that the material is the same but they add something to it to make it hold shape and not peel eg sugar, plaster of paris or some chemical that when wet sets when dried.
