WazR32GTSt Posted June 18, 2006 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Also, I'm of the opinion that air pressure gauges (tyre, manifold etc) should NOT have a zero mark or stop on them for obvious reasons.Adrian why not? if there's no zero then there's no reference... foznice Posted June 18, 2006 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Yeah, 2rismo, I think you'll find that the pressure reading on the gauge (gauge pressure) is different to the actual air pressure in the tyre/manifold (absoloute pressure)..... The gauge pressure = absoloute pressure - atmospheric pressure, so that as Warren stated you can understand the difference in pressure. So if a tyre pressure gauge reads zero, the pressure in the tyre isn't zero, it's just atmospheric pressure. WazR32GTSt Posted June 18, 2006 Share Posted June 18, 2006 i think 2rismo means that cities have a different barometric pressure depending on their height above sea level, thus showing zero boost at a high altitude will in fact be a manifold pressure above the atmospheric pressure at that location but the difference will be minimal and most of us live in cities at sea level, so who really cares?
