Before you direct people to do stupid things, you should get your information correct.

The factory heat range is 5, has he mentioned anything to indicate needing a colder plug?

I'm sure Nissan don't spend millions on research and development for nothing.

imho a 5 heat range is a bit toasty for a turbo engine, and with a modded motor its good to step it up to 6's, which are quite sufficent for a while before you start making serious power.

after that its advised to step to 7's but for a lightly modded motor 6's seem to do the trick.

to regap a plug you just simply put the feeler gauge in the gap, then tap the plug against a hard table or something to bend the electrode in.

If you need to go the other way, open it with the feeler gauge and then tap back into desired size.

I use BCPR7ES's gapped at 8. About $20 for 6. Replace em with oil
