A31 Heater Wont Blow Hot.

My problem is this,

The heater in my cefiro wont blow any warmer than not quite lukewarm. When you slide to temp control down to cold, it blows cold just fine. I pulled the heater control out of my a31 parts car, and I see that the control is all electrical. Does it control the temp by means of a water valve, or by means of a door which governs the amount of air which is allowed to pass through the heater core? Where is this mechanism located? I'm in NZ, and it's bloody cold here this time of year. The heater in my parts car works a treat, but it's much too much work to change the whole heater over. I see there is a wee vent thingee in the heater control panel itself, which apears to have some kind of diode or something in it. Mine could be damaged. Does this have some bearing on tempature control? I can swap the whole control panel over no worries. But Like I said, it's really cold here, and I'm getting too old to drive to work in the morning having to wear gloves.

dunno exactly what to check in ur case. though i do remember in my previous r32, it had a air temp sensor in the centre console, after doing a stereo instal i must of knocked it and it had fallen off its mount and was gathering the temp coming of the gearbox boot cover which confused its main unit and in the end wouldn't let me use the heater either....after putting it back up in its spot gave me hot air again.

from memory heater core is run via water valve that circulates ur coolant fluid to the core.

kinda a pain that the A31 doesn't have the electronic face with digital display that the r32 uses as i believe it has a diagnostic mode that can show where problems are coming from.

Can anyone tell me where exactly the heater valve is located? I REALLY don't want to have to dismantle the whole dashboard just to find the valve.

I guess thats the drawback with modern cars, Too many parts.

Your probably best calling or going into a aircon-heater-auto elec place and seeing where they recommend looking. I'm sure the australian delivered maxima or some other nissan of the same era would have a similar setup. I tried looking on the FAST software to no avail...

u know that door that opens and closes inside ur heater. hot/cold maybe thats jamming or not totally opening, ur slide switch might need adjusting. thats what was wrong on my 32
