condition is pretty good, there are some specs of white around the top of it. looks a bit like some paint or something to me, but i dont want to try to get them off as i might ruin the steering wheel with the wrong chemicals etc.

They're nothing major though. overall it's pretty good but there is a bit of normal wear.

I'll try to get photos asap.

  • 3 weeks later...

I wouldn't be dealing with this bloke, he offered me the S/wheel for $130 and then he changed his mind because someone offered him $150.

How can you believe him as to the condition of it? He just says normal wear and puts up a dodgy pic that you cant see anything.

Here is a copy of the email he send me :

Hi Julian ,

>

> If you want $120 ( $100+20 postage) for it, i will take it as long as

> the leather has no cracks, if its only slight wear its OK .

> Please let me know, as i want to bid at Yahoo auctions on another

wheel

i'll do it for $130 including postage.

thanks for posting mate. like i told u there were other people interested. i did say $130 including postage, but at the same time i had someone else say he'll pay more. there was communications going back and forth between a few potential buyers. he actually told me he'd pay more before u agreed to take it for $130. I do encourage inspection of the steering wheel before purchase also. i have described it to the best of my ability, and put the best pictures i could up for people to see. unfortunately the digital camera i have isnt working so i cant put more detailed ones up.

I appreciate you're criticism, and i'm more than happy to continue with pm's if u like. but this is a for sale add, and i plan on keeping it one.

Thanks Jerry. Sorry mate.

Like i told you in our conversation i don't like time wasters and i don't like to be mucked around dude.

Thats why i put this on here for others to see the kind of bloke they are dealing with, you promise one thing and you do another. You describe it very vaguely and put up a useless pic . It is obvious to me that you are a guy that won't stick to your word . Your word is not even worth $20, if i said i'll pay $160, i'm sure you will tell the other guy he can't have it. Sorry dude i don't operate like that, if you do then it's your business but the rest of us should know, thats the reason i'm posting this. i DONT WANT YOUR STEERING WHEEL.

Even if you offered it to me for $50 now i wouldn't buy it dude.

Good luck with the sale ....

Hey mate, I just had a look at the emails and pm's, and I'll come out

and admit I was wrong. You did accept the offer before he wrote me that

pm offering more and I didn't realise that. Being the case, you can

have

the steering wheel for $130 including postage like I said. I pm'd the

other guy apologising for the screw up and told him I'll give you

preference. If you don't trust the condition I'm going to a friends

house tonight and i'll try to get some good quality pics. I'm not out

to

be dodgy or screw anyone over, I just didn't realise you had accepted

it

before I got the other offer. Apologies for the screw up.

Let me know,

Julian

What happen Julian ? Did the other guy reject it? Well like i said even if you want to give it to me, I DONT WANT IT. I'm not dealing with you, i thought you was a little sus thats why i was going to get someone in Melbourne to buy it for me! I didn't trust you in the first place and looks like my feeling was correct unfortunantly.

Feel free to sell it to whoever you want, if anyone can trust you .

julian is not a bad bloke, and if someone offers him more, well if he agreed to sell it to you for less. and then someone else offered him more, then yes thas a bit dog, but if you didnt put a deposit or full payment down, then theres not alot you can do

as for julian though, he wont mess you around to who ever actually puts payment down

Mate i've sold heaps of things through forums in the past and this is the first time anything bad has come from it. i came out and openly apologised as i realised i did screw up and the offer was accepted before the other guy made me his offer. I simply made a mistake and was under the wrong impression. And to answer ur question... no the other guy didn't reject it, and i got another 2 pm's from people wanting to take it, so all you've ended up doing is bumping my thread and creating more interest. Thanks Jerry! :D Good luck finding ur steering wheel.

Cool dude, i may have been a little harsh on you but you are new to this forum. I accept your apologies and i wish you luck with the sale but i think you can unerstand my point .. As for me finding a wheel, don't worry there is plenty around and heaps in Japan if i cant find a suitable one here.

    • Update: I got the magnet out. I bought 3 different flexible magnetic reach tools, but none of them worked. The magnet on the tip was all less than 2lbs of force, so i had to buy a special cylindrical magnet that had a pull force of 9lbs.  The magnet finally came in the mail yesterday, so i got under the car to get to work. The super strong magnet isn't that long, so i only have about 1 finger pinch lengths to hold it. I was so scared when i was going in the hole, that the 9lb magnet would just fly away inside the oil pan never to be seen again, but i had my butt cheeks clenched and finger gripped on that thing so tight, i managed to get it to suck the other magnet out.  It was a victory for me last night.
    • Yep, pretty much what you said is a good summary. The aftermarket thing just attached to the rim, then has two lines out to valve stems, one to inner wheel, one to outer wheel. Some of the systems even start to air up as you head towards highway speed. IE, you're in the logging tracks, then as speeds increase it knows you're on tarmac and airs up so the driver doesn't even have to remember. I bet the ones that need driver intervention to air up end up seeing a lot more tyre wear from "forest pressures" in use on the highway!
    • Yes, but you need to do these type certifications for tuning parts. That is the absurd part here. Meaning tuning parts are very costly (generally speaking) as well as the technical test documentation for say a turbo swap with more power. It just makes modifying everything crazy expensive and complicated. That bracket has been lost in translation many years ago I assume, it was not there.
    • Hahaha, yeah.... not what you'd call a tamper-proof design.... but yes, with the truck setup, the lines are always connected, but typically they sit just inside the plane of the rear metal mudguards, so if you clear the guards you clear the lines as well. Not rogue 4WD tracks with tree branches and bushes everywhere, ready to hook-up an air hose. You can do it externally like a mod, but dedicated setups air-pressurize the undriven hubs, and on driven axles you can do the same thing, or pressurize the axles (lots of designs out there for this idea)... https://www.trtaustralia.com.au/traction-air-cti-system/  for example.... ..the trouble I've got here... wrt the bimmer ad... is the last bit...they don't want to show it spinning, do they.... give all the illusion that things are moving...but no...and what the hell tyre profile is that?...25??? ...far kernel, rims would be dead inside 10klms on most roads around here.... 😃
    • You're just describing how type certification works. Personally I would be shocked to discover that catalytic converter is not in the stock mounting position. Is there a bracket on the transfer case holding the catalytic converter and front pipe together? If so, it should be in stock position.
