Matt from Shannons hey? looks like I was nice to the right person!

I've been looking into Shannons insurance.... but one question I had was if insured my car telling you I was doing about 10,000kms per year.. and I actually did 15,000 and had an accident... how would that affect my insurance?

And roughly what's the price difference I'm looking at if I drive about 10,000kms per year against driving it for 40,000kms per year?

Liz.

Wouldnt be a great deal, but would depend on value/year/type of vehicle too. Usage depends on the approx number of days you drive the vehicle in a week for example, and weather or not its your daily drive or just a weekend vehicle.

If you want me to give you a buzz to offer a quote, PM me you contact name and number :P

Guys,

do famous cover people in melbourne or they just sydney only, currently paying $1090 for full with JUST car , rating one and agreed value with rating one protection (26 old, melbourne), wonder wether famous will give me a better deal.

just wanting to know if this is a good deal? i'm getting a 96 s2 R33 and Just Car quoted me $1900 with zorst and 17" wheels with excess of $1300. i'm 19 in two weeks, rating 4, no previous claims and no speeding fines etc. called shannons to compare and they wouldn't insure me apparently.

what you think?

yeah we do insure 19yo but only in certain circumstances. depending on the vehicle etc. with this vehicle they want you to have some more expirence with the car before they would offer cover. give us a shot next year when your renewal is due. chris

I would double check your excess, I am 24, and have a S2 R33 GTS-T Just Cars quoted me $1650 with an $1850 excess for damage or $1300 for theft. I ended up going with Shannons who were $1900 premium, with a $900 excess, but when I turn 25, the excess becomes $500, and the premium about $1400.

Just want to say a big thankyou to Matt AKA _8OO5TED_

Arranged my insurance for the GTR - was best price by far and Matt took care of everything for me - thanks again mate very much appreciated.

Found this insurance is awesome, better/more features than the Shannons policy and far less costly also:

http://www.justinsuranceservices.com.au/

One of our cars in particular was a heap cheaper than Shannons, it was an XY Falcon too! That is supposed to be Shannons core market. Looks like there is some genuine competition in the car enthusiast insurance sector, which can only mean good things for the consumer. :D

Call them for a quote, I'd imagine you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Does anyone know if this "just insurance" are a ligit company? Sounds like a rip off of Just Car Insurance.

They have to be. They are owned by commercial brokers and act as an agent for a large underwriter. They bound by strict Australian insurance legislation. I was comfortable, if you aren't then fair enough stick with who you are with now. Mind you I work in corporate insurance myself so I am a little more careful/comfortable with these sorts of things.

Keep in mind, just because something else is mass marketed and appears bigger doesn't always mean it's better. The younger companies often go at it aggressively to get market share. Which means great premiums, service and cover for consumers.

i called and he couldnt quote me on a modified 1993 Nissan Skyline GTS25t.

Underwritten by Prudential Insurance it looks like...

Their policy is quite obviously modelled on the Shannons car/bike policy and it is almost identical.

Not as if you were going to take it out anyway... :P

How old are you? How often do you drive your car? You would know better than anyone the loss ratio of some of that sort of stuff...

You are right though it appears to be quite a similar policy to Shannons, except they have some added benefits/options (seasonal/collection covers) and can do all types of business (Car Club liability!) cover also. And for me it was cheaper. Obviously not every company is going to suit everybody.

Good on you for helping people on here, although I heard some people from Shannons got in a lot of trouble for that though...? Is that true?
