hey i read through a few pages here, im on dialup so cant go through 30 pages,

i just got a 1994 toyata soarer with lexus badges on it, its a V6 non turbo auto.

Ive called racq, nrma, budget, and suncorp, all of them either wont ensure me cause im under 25 (23) or cause its an import.

I will call some of the companies mentioned in this thread on Monday, but anything over $1000 and i dont think i will be able to afford it??!?!? :P

For someone with experience how much should i expect to pay?

Give Just Cars a call mate, they will be able to help out, no worries.

P.S, are u sure its a V6? I thought the non-turbo Soarers were inline 6cyl 2JZGE engines....

29yo with a gtst shouldnt be too much though ? $1500 max ?

On a lighter note, I rang Custom Car Insurance (GIO offshoot?) for a quote on my lightly modded S2 R33 GTS-t Sedan, they quoted me about $3550, which made me laugh as I told them that I currently paid $1,200 with Just Cars, with all my mods listed, me being a 24yr old rating one male.

i found that with famous if you give them a quote to your liking they will try to beat it. i told them just car quoted me 1900 so they did 1600. just car actually quoted me 2500. works well actually. but we'll see

Yeah famous give good prices but you just need to be aware that they are an off shore backed company and as a result are not bound by Aus Legislation so if you have any issues with them you really dont have anywhere to go in regards to the Aus authorities to try and resolve your issue :D

EG: consumer affairs, etc....

Just some info that i think you should know before signing :)

Has anyone seen RYNO's Club Racing insurance extra?

For an extra $500 on top of your normal excesses, you can claim a motorsport accident if the event that you crashed in was a CAMS approved event (which I think most SAU/WRX events are)

They will pay out up to $20,000 to repair your car - or the value of your car if it is less than $20,000.

I think thats a pretty good deal seeing as I do all kinds of club events! Does anyone else concur?

Just called Just cars insurance for a comparison from Shannon’s insurance on my GTR. What a comparison.

Just cars

Script kiddy, couldn't handle talking

Is the GTR manual or Auto?

Insured for what I paid for it (bargain that it was)

$1600 excess

$2260 premium

Shannon’s

Someone who could talk to me

Knew the car from the start

Insured for more than I paid for it (agreed value but at higher market value)

$500 excess

$14?? premium

From the conversation or little of it I had with Just cars I wouldn't trust them to pay out. It was like speaking to a recording, it was worse than the Indian call centers.

You guys that like Just cars must have terrible records. I wouldn't go near them. Even NRMA was cheaper!

I have never even been pulled over in 3 years let alone got a speeding fine,Just cars are the only company that will insure me that have a premium + excess isn't more then the car is worth.

    • So, when are you trying the new GR86 or BRZ?
    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
