Tempe Tyres

I was just having a look at their web site and just wanted to get some opinion on their stock. Are they ok? or is it complete crap thats not worth it?

The wheels shown on Tempe Tyres website are more often than not replicas of JDM wheels.

They are going to be more heavy and suffer an inferior finish/quality compared to wheels made by the more popular Japanese wheel manufacturers.

Finally, if you get the package, it means that the tyres that come in the pacakage are low end Falken tyres (ZE326s) which offer very poor levels of grip both in wet and dry conditions.

you can upgrade your tyres with them though.

they dont really carry any decent racing type wheels, pretty much all their stock is big n bling. cheap deals if u want the showy effect.

I picked up some Impuls second hand with wide rubber and for the money it was a great deal. These originally come from Tempe and I like the look of them personally, they are not the lightest rim or the strongest, probably not suitable for track work.

Chrome finish is pretty poor. Mate has some and the chrome peeled in 2 months. Could just be a faulty batch, however they said it was not a warrant issue. So on that basis, i personally would not purchase from them.

Yeah the chrome looks shit, mine are Shadow Chrome and the only blemishes are some slight gutter rash from the previous owner, otherwise they're fine. You DO get what you pay for though... Don't expect JDM quality rims.

Finish is the least of your problems. They are cheap cast Chinese rims ( cheap and nasty), i wouldn't use them on a GTR thats for sure.

I was thinking of getting some shadow rims for my silver r33 s2 from tempe tyres, i dont have a big budget, but i definitely dont want complete rubbish. I was considering the K Speed Foruma D ( http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_clos...rt=&part_no=482 )....

apart from the popular [b00S7A] pic going around, has anyone seen evidence of these rims cracking or breaking due to stress etc? even then, i doubt that the BOOS7A case was due to weak wheels either...

Matt: I mounted a gutter avoiding an idiot with my Imupls and carefully inspected the rim and there was no obvious damage visible. (Side note: did you end up calling my mate about his insurance?)

I would never pay $150 for a rim, firstly it would be damn small and secondly, I would have to agree it would be pretty p*ss weak too. Probably why I paid $800 per rim....

I would love too, but i dont want anything bigger than 17" for handling and most importantly financial reasons. I dont see any shadow 17" impulse.... lol

Yeah I originally wanted 17's for the same reason but came across my set of 18's with brand new Nankang Ultra Sport II's (235 front 265 rears) for $1200 total So i couldn't resist.

Back to the topic though... Tempe sell cheaper wheels and tyres and as such the quality is not at the same standard as some of the JDM sets.

Funk: You might be better off looking around for some 2nd hand JDM's f you're concerned about qiality/strength/weight etc.

yeahh i bought big chrome showy wheels because my car is not a track car, nor do i require it to handle like a track car or really even go that fast either....

Well if someone can point out some shadow impulse rims 17" or 18" that arent too expensive, i'd be interested. Although would 18's fit without modifications??
