Hey guys,

I'm looking to get an R33 GTS, But I honestly dont know wha to look out for as far as a good one.

I have around $25K to spend, but I would like something low k's very clean, and not been driven hard.

Can someone help me with some info on what to look for? how much a good GTS will set me back and what mods i can do for stuff all cash to get the best out of my RB25DET?

Buy your car in japan, the series 2 R33 are the better buy imo.

Look at the for sale section in your state/area for teh bargains, research this site for what mods are best for your intentions.

The group buys are some of the best deals going for new stuff.

Yeah, be careful if you're looking a "GTS" is a non-turbo, but you said that you want a good RB25DET (turbo).

So you're looking for a GTST. For 25K I think you could get a 98 Series 2 40th anniversary edition for that money, or a decent R34GTT manual. I think the R34 will hold its value more though, being a newer car.

Do what Satanic did, and call an importer, and tell them to look for a perfect condition R34GTT, and to email you with pics and the auction-sheet when they find one. You'd want it for about 22K delivered and complied, so you can rego and insure it with the remaining 3K.

Sorry I thought that the GTST was implied when i mentioned RB25DET, my bad.

I really wanted an R34 GT-T, but i also wanted a good starting point, Much like what Fooey e-mailed me the details with, but something newer. And i want something as close to 250 kw for around the $25k. that is why i downgraded to the idea of an R33, RReally want something like an earlie 1998. But i am not sure if I can get an 1998 R33 GTS-T to put out around the 250kw for that kind of money.. It is why I came to you guys for advice.

Really looking for something as a work horse but has be low k's and very reliable, also something that with a little bit of mods, can easily slip into drifting.

With an r33gts-t It's going to cost you a bit to keep it reliable at 250+kw... I'm Not saying it won't be reliable, but, you will need to invest quite a bit into it, e/g running costs, parts, fuel. I just don't know what you mean by work horse either? If you mean like as a work car, I think you should just buy a daily, then get something a little cheaper as a weekend, fun car.

Ok so what do you mean as far as parts that i will need to upgrade if i was something to be "Reliable" at 250 kw

Na im not after a race car that hasnt been raced.. and yes there would be cars out there that havent had the balls hammered out of them.. I just want something that has a good history, and that has low k's....

yeah and i will be sure to get it checked out, but this is totaly off topic to what i asked for.

Information on how to get a R33 Series 2 GTS-T skyline to put out around 250 rwkw.. is it possible for under $25,000 and what do i need to do to make it possible?

Ive been looking around for R34 4 doors and i tell you what, in Sydney and wa they are going for around 17,000 - 25,000 pending on kms and mods. Try www.carmenimports.com or www.autoworkx.comau and check what they have. 25k should get you a nice set of turbo tuned wheels, but take your time and research your cars before you hand your $$ over.

All the best with your decision.

Regards Evan

for 25k, you'll get a shit r34 gtt. No doubt about me. Find a good 34 gtt for 25k and i'll take 1. I don't mean just fully keyboard warrior up a pic on carsales.com. most of them have actually done shitloads of ks, have accident repair history etc.

For 25k, you can get yourself a very good condition sII r33 gtst. If I was to buy another one today, i'd be looking at spending around 21k on the car itself. Then you have about 4k for mods. won't get you 250 rwkw, but it will get your 200rwkw.

But that's just me. I like things perfect with not a single door dent. No swirlies in the paint. No blemishes on the interior. around 60ks. not thrashed. no accident history. Engine bay and underside of the car looking like it just came out of the factory.

Alternatively, buy one for 13k. and replace almost everything in it, since most of it iwll be worn out anyway. But it'll end up costing more than the newer one.

    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
