Hey all,

I have been looking around at Skylines for a while now and am still not sure who is a trustworthy dealer can you tell me what you think about these dealers: Kamikaze Motors, JSA, Southern Special Vehicles(SSV), JSA and Gran Turismo Autos. If there are any other dealers that you have bought a car from can which has either really bad or really good can you notify me.

hi hope this helps in ur decision.

dont bother with jsa or GTA as they will rip u off good, jsa cars are in shit quality nearly every skyline that i test drove with them was misfiring like crazy the interior in a lot of their cars is shit holes in the dash ect. A friend of my traded in his fto + a few extra grand on to for a 97 SerII 200 sx 3 days before he brang them his car he was doind stupid things and hit the gutter with his left back wheel he took it to the machanic and he told him that his left wheel was going to need to be replaced along with the shocks as they had been damadged, so he still took it and traded it in for the 200 sx and the guys there put the car on for sale the next day. Also my cuz's gir is a family friend of theirs and she says that they r shifty so as u can see from my story its true.

GTA on the other had my experiance with them wasnt pleasnt i was supose to by my 34 from them and they tried to sell me a diff r34 from the one which i had chosen which had 79000km and the one that i chose had only 36000km

The dealer from which i bought my 34 from was kamikaze they r ok havent had a single problem with a the car since i bought it 1 year ago except for the brake pads that needed to be changed wich they changed for me at no cost.

in the end all dealers are shifty f**ks u have to be realy cerfull when u do go to buy the car make sure that u test it out good and see that everything feals good.

Thanks for that, Power Rd Danedong gave me a good offer for a trade in on my for wheel drive, which was the best I had recieved yet, i took a R33 GTS-T SII 1997 and it feeled reasonably good. But is $22,000 a bit much for it, it had low K's black manual stock, and I think most if not all the extras. If anyone knows anything about them can you please post. Also Southern Special Vehicles had some alright cars. I have been to Kamikaze a few times and there prices seem just a little higher then average but still reasonable.

Alex - there are 2 dealers i can highly recommend:

Wayne from GT Auto Imports (croydon)

AND

Mark/Peter from SSV (Oakleigh)

I got mine from GT Auto Imports - fantastic car and loving every minute of it! :P

Plus when you want to get an import, you want to talk to someone who knows about the car, and who can help you out when you have problems with it. Both the above dealers - they know their skylines. I think wayne now imports them on a customer by customer basis- and has only one 1995 white skyline left in his dealership - definetly worth talking to him.

Mark has plenty of skylines around - I saw heaps there today when I was driving past. Those are the 2 that Id recommend. The other thing is, Wayne does complaincing for most dealerships - so thats a bonus, cos both him and his mechanic know the cars inside out.

I got mine for 17,500 all up with 72,000 on the clock - bone stock though. But he is flexible, you can ask him if there are any goodies that he can chuck in.

I wont comment on some of hte other places that I went to. However, if you are going to kamikaze, talk to warren - he is a top bloke too - very helpful.

I have been recomended to go and check out SVI, I am not sure if anyone has heard of them, they are apparently in Sydney, and I would like to know if they are any good, I heard they are a pretty big business for importing skylines.. Just trying to get feed back.. would still rather get a small no named importer than someone big. but let me know what you think.

Was it purchased from GT Auto? If so, they will take care of it. I had a water pump leak, wayne and jarrod took care of it - dropped the car on friday, picked it up monday morning. There was a problem with the Air Con (wasnt re-gassed) again, they took care of it (cos it was only 1 or 2 weeks that i had the car). When going for imports, always best to do a solid research - you know who is good and whos just talking crap by the amount of knowledge they have and the time they spend explaining everything (as well as the quality of the car). Added bonus, if they own a 'line too. Anyway - thats just my 2 cents.

Hi if your in Sydney then i would suggest Jap Link Motors. I have spoken to Rick many times and he was just happy to talk about anything really. Also all his cars in very good condition unlike s*** dealers that have all old cars with high k's. There website is www.japlinkmotors.com.au.

    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
    • Ye, in terms of bolting up the "Conversion" from a GT to a GTT is effectively "Use GTT parts for everything" Except the subframe itself, because you won't want a HICAS/4WS subframe. Remember your ABS system will be different too, thanks to GT being the S15 3 sensor system, instead of the R34 4 sensor system for wheel speed. I do not know how people get this to work given R34 diffs do not have a provision for an ABS sensor (they are on the tone wheels of the axles). I assume***** people use S15 gear/R34NA forever when they realize this - Or they convert it to a rear diff/axles that are R33 style which I presume has the singular speed sensor on the diff itself, but then you have to wire it all in and...and... and...
    • Foreshadowing was never so easy.
    • The ones in brackets are the first stages of tightening. I usually aim for the middle of the range. They give a range because it's actually not that critical to hit exactly the right bolt tension. Enough is enough, and too much is too much, and the range given is inside that range. Half of the bolts in the suspension are problematic for putting a torque wrench on anyway, so just get done up to mechanic tight  and spanner checked a week later.
