Grinding Noise At Low Rpms

I went in a mates r33 the same as mine the other day, and as he was going round corners in second gear there was a grinding noise from what i thought was the bottom half of his engine from about 1000-2000 rpm and disappeared after 2000 rpm. he said it was gears but i think its more serious. anyone got any ideas?

I think i have a similar sound in my car..i woudnt really call it grinding..more like a scraping noise. Happens at low RPM's soemtimes like you described.

are you sure it's not coming from thhe diff?

mine makes a funny noise at anything under 2000rpm. Replaced it with a shimmed secondhand diff and the noise has *almost* disappeared

hi my car does the same thing i think that the motor rpm is not hi enough to be put under load.

anyone got any ideas?

yeah i know man its too low to be put under load, but does anyone change into 1st going round corners? and the thing is in my car it doesnt do it when going round corners at the same speed... got us stumped

I've got the same noise too from about 1500 -2000 rpm,

seems to be coming from the g/box area

either clutch or a bit of play in the tailshaft. its definitely driveline.

I know its far from comparable (it was a piece of shit) but my old VS 5ltr 5speed had a similiar issue around corners.

It was a loose engine mount causing the exhaust to touch something giving a grinding sound.
