25YKU
Hey guys, The name is Jared, i'm a newbie to these forums, and i'm having some problems with my R33! It seems to be coughing and farting on idle sometimes, now all the mods i have done is a boost controller, fuel reg. and exhaust. the car is due for a tune very soon once i fit my front mount, but even i know it shouldnt be idling like it is even if it is out of tune. The car will idle fine sometimes, and others it will drop down to like 500rpm and just start idling like a dog! I know it could be many a thing so i'm just wondering if you guys would be able to help me and maybe tell me some stuff i can look for to help try and cure this problem , till i have to take it to my mechanic! i have replaced the AFM, tried adjusting the little red idle box thing at the back of the engine, and yeh im stumped lol maybe something to do with spark or fuel perhaps? Anyways any positive input would be great! Cheers, jared Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122348-idle-problems/ Share on other sites
blind_elk
...tried adjusting the little red idle box thing at the back of the engine...Have you tried cleaning it? I think there's a 'how to' somewhere on here. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122348-idle-problems/#findComment-2259360 Share on other sites
Medium Dave
Do a bit of a search for hunting issues, I guess that will probably cover most of what you need to know, I have been having these issues for ages, every time I changed something it would stop, then be back the next day - Its because the climate control ac is the problem! I would switch it off to test, then flick it on the next day! oh I laughed so hard when I figured that out lesson one, change only one thing at a time... jakegts
The same thing was happening to my 33 GTS-T... Was my fuel pump, it was on the outs and had to get it replaced when i got it tuned anyway... but idle was horrific and sumtimes when i had to stop suddenly the car would fall to 200 or otherwise stall.... Hope this helps.... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122348-idle-problems/#findComment-2260840 Share on other sites

BH_SLO32
If the car is hunting then I would suggest a faulty O2 sensor. To check simply disconnect the O2 sensor next time the car starts hunting and see if the idle stabilises. Hope this helps.
