Time for a tougher spring. Most likely cant get one for an 'ebay wastegate' though.

I have an AVCR and its a pain to set up but its sweet once its all tuned. I used to hate em but now I wouldn't trade it in for any other EBC. SK is right, all boost controllers are going to have a hard time controlling a wastegate thats too weak for the target pressure.

Well I know my AVCR spikes like a bitch.... Especially in higher gears

As does the one in my friends car. This is after absolutely ages spent adjusting the duty cycle, response time on the solenoid per gear etc etc before anyone asks me if I tried changing the settings.

Its not the worst controler in the world but I definately would not buy another one. In fact if I could be stuffed hauling it out and selling it and installing a new one would not be in the car anymore!

you will find the physical side of the install the problem with your spiking and not the settings.

You must keep the the lines as short as posible because a small diameter long line only bleeding a few pounds off will have a delay effect and so causing a spike and AVCR can do nothing to stop this.

dvs32r there is a simple test to see if you are at the limit of the waste gate but be carefully and it is simply remove the boost line from the wastegate and block it off now you are running the max boost that waste gate can hold and to see the minium connect the a boost line to the waste gate with no obstruction which will give you the least you can run.

I believe like the others have said you have reach the maximum of the current waste gate configuration and the tuner who told you to buy a different EBU is lead you on a wild goose chase.

ps have you posted a dyno sheet on the forum would be interested to have a look

bit dissapointed.

32 GTR

1st up quick list of mods

rebuilt motor

JE pistons

standard crank and rods every thing else replaced.

To4z a/r 1 rear .70 front

50mm ebay wastegate with 12psi spring

hybrid boost controller electronic

PWR cooler

3.5inch exhaust

power FC

put it on the dyno today to raise the boost from 19 to 25psi

had 403kw.

my boost controller won't go higher than 22.5psi. its maxed out wont turn any more.

my question is should i spend the money on an e boost 2 like my tuner reccomends or will a stiffer wastegate spring do the job?

thanks

for a cheap quick fix, you can go to your local auto parts store and pick up a particular spring set... I don't know if its the same, but here in america at our parts store we have a 'help' section that has parts that are commonly not found and there is a set of carbeurator springs and there is a medium sized one that my friends have used between something and the wastegate flange. I'm not recomending anything in particular but i have seen it used to help a dodge neon srt-4 from bleeding off up top like they will stock. Just an idea, the rb25 clipset i just purchased had a small spring on the wastegate arm attached to the wastegate bracket.

thanks heaps for the info every one.

i am happy with the response and controll of the boost that the hybrid controller offers.

found out my tuner went blind and had the low boost turned to the max.

not the high boost.

i am still going to change the wastegate springs to be around 18-19psi.

i am going to be using 19psi on pump fuel for street use and 25psi with 98+ octane booster for strip and dyno use.

here is my dyno sheet. this is a basic one in hp as my other sheet is in my car at the tuners.

i will post my results when it has been tuned on 25psi

i won a dyno day at tuggerah on sat running 19psi. beat the 2nd place supra by .6 of a kw.

made 387.5kw.

doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile winning is winning.

cheers

Jeremy

put in an 18psi spring, it helped alot but still drops off boost a little at high revs. im very happy with the power and the response from the setup i have.

here is the graph i got back today on 23-24psi.

intercooler restriction perhaps ..

try having the boost controllers feeds from the plenum side not the hot pipe.

these boost readings are taken from the plenum, why not do the same with your boost control feed..

i also agree with the one boost setting, 99% of the time.. the only time i drop my boost down is if its a stinking hot day or i get knock via bad fuel etc... other than that running low boost just feels sluggish, yet so many people love the idea of a "low" setting for most of the time. if im on low boost and need to put my foot down it will usually mean i want full power!

its quite interesting to see the difference the 1.00 housing has next to R32-GTS's 0.81 housing. from the graph you lose out quite a lot down low correct? On a rb26, Is the idea of going the 1.00 over the .81 housing so that you can get more peak power? In this case it would seem that running max ~25psi, you would be better off with the 0.81 housing and get much more average power?

Hate to hi-jack your thread guys but I run a GCG hi-flow with all the goodies to get 220rwkw. I have always believed in running full boost at all times and letting my foot control that boost. Not really having problems controlling boost as the profec b spec 2 does a great job but would everyone agree if I am running the turbo at 15.5lbs would at least a 10lb spring be better? Better than the standard spring that is.

hey DVS32R nice specs. Can i ask you what engine bore and stroke size you have as in capacity after build. i am guessing bigger than 2.6 litre

I have a to4z with rear Ar 1. but was told that it was a too big a rear size for a 2.6 litre so i am negotiating a .84 or .81

the turbo was for a 3 litre originaly sohc

.

If you are happy with the spool up and top end then thats wiked.... when dose your boost start coming on?

Now i am unsure! what to do :O

Hey mate,

Looking at your dyno graph, it appears to be very laggy, near 5800rpms is that correct?

hey guys.

running 40thou oversize on standard bore. running standard crank and rods.

yeah i thought the 1 rear housing would be too big too but im happy with it.

it pulls at about 3000 then kicks ass at 4000-4500 and screams. the dyno rpm on the sheet is just an estimate as my car revs to 8,300

slightly laggy but its worth it.

without my poncams it was alot worse.

went to the drags before cams and ran an 11.4@120mph with soft launch and slow change to 3rd. was my 1st time there and 4th run for me of the night.

just tidying things up a little then i will go to WSID again to try and crack a 10 second pass. problem being i will only get one go if i hit a 10.9999999 cause then i will need a roll cage etc. and i dont want all that in my street GTR.

thanks for every ones input.

Jeremy

    • Hey everyone!!  I've noticed that whenever I do my oil changes, after putting 4L in, the oil level sits at the top mark in the dipstick. This is after letting the old oil drain for a very long time too! I've checked the oil level daily for the past few mornings. It happens every time and it's confusing because all the threads say that it should take about 4.7L (With some just adding the full 5L) My next thought is to figure out if the dipstick I have is correct so could someone please tell me the length of the RB25DET engine oil dipstick?  I've checked images of some of the genuine dipsticks, but none of them have the length in it. https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-engine-oil-level-dipstick-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-stagea-c35-laurel-y34-cedric-gloria-rb25de-t-neo?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOortQXofgmiHVRKuIaiKuygL4k0Ewp68c3isGZk0vvKOJ7Yqf3iB However.... the engraving on the genuine ones say 05002 while mine says AA000. This makes me believe that maybe I have a wrong dipstick? I just want to confirm before I buy a new one. The car is a fresh import from Japan so I don't have details of the previous owner to ask him. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾
    • Sport. I didn’t rebleed it cause I just removed the slave and left connected.    I will change line and slave and see how it goes.
    • Oh and how is the rattle when foot is on the clutch ?
    • Did you get the sport or track ? From what the documentation says the uniclutch has a small amount of movement to disengage.  So your story of tricky pedal setup seems common.    Hopefully you got it bled up too, as the bite point moving around is usually either plates wearing in or air in the line.
