Awesome so it did the trick. :D

upto doing the wiring loom.. putting in a wolf 3d with crane hi6 ignition controller.. the engine pictured is only a 2 litre.. i have the 3lt in now but no camera. went to 3lt block with the rb25de head with an rb20det exhaust cam and atmo intake(more aggressive profile for turbo) gives an extra 30mm clearance under the intake plenum... will have fmic..

Which atmo inlet cam did u go?

RB20 or rb25?

The RB25 inlet cam is more agressive as its 240duration 7.8mm lift vs the rb20 n/a 232dur 7.3mm lift.

Have you done valve springs?

I am going to try and track down an rb20det exhaust cam and drop it in to mine when I do my springs in a couple of weeks after exams.

The stock rb25de n/a exhaust cam is 232duration 7.3mm lift and doesn't really have optimal centerlines.

The rb20det exhaust cam is ok but could do with a little tweaking via an adj. cam gear.

went with the r33 25de. donor springs were from the rb20 det. the ex cam is rb20det to. will fit adjustable cam gears before dyno time..

A little bad news.

The RB20DET springs are the same as the RB25DE springs.

The RB20DET springs are fine for the rb20det as the valves are smaller, throw the larger/heavier rb25de valves behind them and you run in to valve float anywhere from 11 to 17psi depending on a few variables.

Its interesting you went the R33 RB25DE VCT (All R33 Rb25de's and DET's are VCT) inlet cam as the centerlines are way out for a non-vct setup.

The R33 inlet cam runs the same duration and lift as the R32 Rb25DE and Rb20DET inlet cams, just different centerlines.

The R32 Rb20DE inlet cam is a little pissy thing so definitely not worth even looking at that one.

Definitely best to throw an adj. cam gear on the r33 inlet cam to sort out its centerline.

didnt know that.. looks like i need to strip down the head again.. good excuse to go shopping at tomei...

might pick up a pair of poncams i think.. with matching springs. and it can get ceramic coated to.. the pistons have already been coated. looks like i need to go back to work again...

any of you guys help me out i wanna know does a r30 resistor work on gtr injectors etc cause i wanna run gtr 444 on my 2030 motor its all built needs a intake gasket and its done ... but unsure weather the resistor will run them injectors any one have some info or some one using the same set up ..

looks great i love the old torries used to have a lj with a 327 chev in it many yrs ago . great to see someone do something thing diffrent and thinking out side the square . hope it gives ya lots of fun i know the old v8 did for me

cheers mid life crisis

The big benifit of the rb30det is it will return excellent fuel economy for the power being made..

Cruise around normally with the odd bit of stick and expect 11L/100km's or so providing all the tuning, o2 sensor, injectors are all up to spec.

One reason I sold my old VS V8 commodore, after a few mods (cam, ecu, exhaust) shiet did it suck some fuel.

did i read correctly? does that say 'my 2030'? If that's not a typo and i hope for your sake it is then all i can say is: WHY???????????????

I read it and thought...hmmm

If it isnt a typo, people must think its good to be different.

I find it a bit pointless to put a larger cc motor in to get good power, then run the head with the smallest valves. 3lt to make more power yeah...but then throw on the poorest flowing head on it...on a turbo motor too which benefits from more flowing gasses?

Nice but :D

can i ask which gearbox u are running? If it is out of a skyline, not a std torana box, how well did the gearshift line up in the std position?

as r31turbo said its a 20 head its been ported but not flowed . standard cams , port matched manifolds , and stock rb30et bottem end i gots for free i had the head done for 500 cash and now a few bolt ons and need a ecu next i think cause i dont see the r32 ecu running it ...?

My stock R32 ecu ran the car fine but would ping a little as boost came on, it would then fuel cut at around 7psi. So not very fun.

But perfectly fine for the run in, just wire open the wastegate and give it lots of throttle.
