_MRR33
Hey Guys, I'll be doing some work to my engine over the next couple of months, it needs new oversized pistons etc, so just going to do a bit more while the engine is out but I wanted to paint the block but I'm not too sure what color. The car itself is a R33 Nissan Skyline GTS-T and it's Gunmetal Grey ..what color do you guys think would suit the actual engine block? - R33MidnightRacer Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/ Share on other sites
Rosie_1008
I think red is alway good. Im halfway through forged pistons going in and thinking of doing the same thing. Mine is bayside blue with gold brembo's......... so im going for gold Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2265733 Share on other sites
_MRR33
I was thinking red at one stage I'm not too sure though ..I was also thinking maybe a blue or a blueish-purple would look good Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2265738 Share on other sites
Rosie_1008
Although if you were looking for something different i wouldn't go red cause its pretty common : Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2265743 Share on other sites
Rosie_1008
I think its good to go for a contrasting colour. But thats just me Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2265752 Share on other sites

Red wouldn't be bad but thinking about what you said that red would be too common ..I'm leaning towards a blue or something but even then a few cars probably have a blue block. Amaru
Most cars have a black or silver block since you basically never see it unless your peeking down into the engine bay. You are talking about the cam covers not the block. Just for some clarification Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2265935 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
block - black you can hardly see it, plus once it gets dirty it looks tacky if painted something else. block black, then the rest of the colours stand out better IMO Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2265966 Share on other sites

Duncan
nice yellow or white block is the way to go, then you can see where the oil is leaking from. You can't see it with the motor in the car from above anyway Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2266250 Share on other sites
GTRsean
Go a chrome plated block for that reflective, shiny effect! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2266327 Share on other sites

VB-
how bout harlequin, then everybodies right? lol black is neat, but lighter colors: 1. stand out when ur showin ur ride off, and 2. make it easier to find oil leaks, but thats not so good when attemtpting #1. Dahtone Racing
ive gone silver on mine basically for the same reason that Duncan said, so you can find leaks easier Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/122699-engine-block-color/#findComment-2268023 Share on other sites
