How Do I Check Timing?

hey lads,

i went to check the timing on my R33 skyline today and i was a bit struck by what exactly to clip the timing light onto?

the number 1 spark lead is under the cover and i cant get to it.... without taking off my intercooler pipes and all matter of gear....

is there anywhere else i can clip the timing light onto or does it have to be done and checked by a computer?

anyway advice would be greatly appreciated.

i assume you have a timing light with an inductive pickup that clips around sparkplug lead?

i don't think you can use them for electric ignition...
