also i dont no if this part is true...(gps tracking place told me a while back) but when the professional places disable your car remotly, they have to inform the police the second they do it and the second the car is disabled.

Sort of, The installer calls the monitoring company and lets them know, there is a procedure to follow. The monotoring company will most likely call the customer anyway to confirm.

Police are only called when the monotoring company confirms with you your car has been stolen.

Carminder can be set up to ring you on triggers, it's just switched off by default. Personally I can't see much wrong with Carminder other than the fact that you can block the GPS signal. But if you are really concerned about that, sign up for Quicktrak as well. But even Quicktrak can be disabled by going into a GSM "dead zone" so nothing's perfect unless you buy extra bits to make up for the drawbacks of the first bits.

There's no guarantees to keep your car safe, because if a professional wants it, he will get it. Even the best security devices can be bypassed with a gun to your head and that doesn't even require the thief to be skillful at all. But that's why you also get insurance no matter what security devices you have, because that is really the only guarantee that you'll at least be compensated should the worst happen.

The perfect solution I reckon is to lynch all car thieves like they did to horse thieves in the old west, until there's none left. Hmm, maybe that's more of a "final solution" :cool:

quicktrak works on CDMA (spread spectrum technology) and cannot be jammed. only way to disable it is to drive out of the coverage area or find the unit.

in regard to stopping a stolen car from a monitored point of view, the police have control of it (via the monitoring co. ) once the vehicle is secured.

it works on that concept - not the phone towers . QT own their own towers in the areas tehy cover. yes the rumor on CDMA phones may be true but it DOESNOT apply to QT.

Hmm, I'm not sure about that rule, but I'm sure it says somewhere that (at least in vic) you cannot kill the engine unless the car is stationary.

I believe the systems do not disable the ignition if the car is not stationary but I could be wrong. Also, I'm unsure of any differences with company's like quiktrak

QT is a 3 pt sysem. two points actively controlled by the reomte in your hand and the third is remotely controlled from the monitoring centre. see above comments for operation when vehicle is moving.

Apologies, I got my terminology wrong but that's what I was referring to. I have heard stories of thieves knowing of the Quicktrak dead zones and driving or towing the car there before they can be found by the police. I agree that it's probably better this way than having a GPS tracker easily jammed, but this is also why it costs more and has an ongoing fee. But I would think that a GPS tracker is better than nothing at all if you don't want to pay the yearly fee, or if you don't live in a decent coverage area.

I think that if your car was worth more than the insurance could cover, it would pay to have both types of trackers. I know of someone who had an R32 GTR that had 6 digits spent on it that had this sort of setup (and probably more I didn't hear about).

Even after all this, I am just waiting for some sort of widespread activity to be considered to be terrorism or an act of war, which most policies won't cover at all.

yeah i heard of an evo that got driven to a blackspot and wasnt recovered...im gonna put everything possible..insurance wont cover my car...

if you are referring to a evo 9 then that is GSM based.

iono all specifics but i heard diamond track or somethin like that..

dude has switched to cdma now and swears by it....

thats teh one. same priciple as the holden version fitted to teh statesman and upspec calais.

      I replaced the whole clutch line with the chase bays braided hose, I think it removes that loop, is it the short hose that comes immediately off the slave or is there a drawing in the manual to find what you’re referring to? It was just re-bled when I upgraded to the nismo slave, old slave worked fine but I thought that might help, didn’t change a thing. It’s like the first half of the pedal is pushing air and then when it finally actuates the master the friction zone is tiny. Makes it practically impossible to launch the car

      Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.

      I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it

      If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣

      I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
