Biatch,

There's a place in the same complex as UAS that does custom carbon fibre work... They were working on this 100% carbon fibre body race car the last time I dropped by.

The guy is very eccentric, but he does amazing work. He made custom sized sheets for this exact application for me a few years ago... Very cheap too. From memory I got him to do 3 layers of carbon (ended up being about 3mm thick and BLOODY STRONG), and a gloss top coat in double-din size, and it cost me about $30-40.

Can't remember the shop number, but I think the guy's name was Alan. John will remember the guy if you ask him.

Thats where im getting my stuff done from Richard.......and as Andrew says he is a litle eccentric but his work is very good !!

Hi Aaron, if BB doesn't need it, I will take it. I need to replace a gauge panel and a POD heat shield cover so 1mm would be perfect. What are the dimensions?

 cheers ;)

np...ive got just i think enuff to fit din size across and have another piece thats bit bigger...also have the carbon fibre weave..if u or BB knows how to resin it up into sheets i can cut sum up for u 2 and you guys can go from there. aaron

thanks guys. SK can have the weave as i got a small piece from John acutally. But i may ring carbon artistry too and see if i can get some more. thanks andrew and thomas :)

thanks for the tip on carbon artistry guys, but thomas if you are 'getting stuff done' there i hope it's already been finished as they closed up shop for good today. he packed up the shop and is moving on to something not related to fibre work. :D

Does anyone know where to get this stuff aswel out of interest? (locally)

Ive been told plumbing stores, and tried 2 today without luck

Ducting

That looks like the stuff someone would use as an air conditioning duct or a skylight duct. Small tho. I got something that looks similar to that and made an air duct/passage from the front of my Celica to the air box.

Got it from Bunnings in the plumbing section i think it was.

holy smokes batman! that is some serious yen.

adrian the stuff on the forum is pre-preg sheet. the stuff tosh is showing/selling is pre fabricated carbon sheets. the differnce is pre-preg is just the raw carbon/fibre weave and needs shaping and then a resin applied. the sheets from HPI are formed dry carbon pieces made by a different methond to 'wet laying' of pre-preg.
