How To Tell If Bearing In Turbo Is Stuffed?

One of our Pajero turbo diesel wagons at work is making a funny noise when the turbo kicks in, srt of like a buzzing/low pitched squealing noise. Happens at exactly 2200rpm every time. Hasn't lost any power, just started making this noise. Could it be a stuffed bearing in the turbo??

Maybe compressor hitting housing or it's belts. check the belts for play, stick head under bonnet and listen for noise.

could be exhaust leak, had it before on several cars. turbo base gasket or manifold gasket.

manifold gasket most likely.

Shine a torch in there and look for soot blow outs around edges. It will be very obvious.

If the turbo has a stuffed bearing, you would know.

The compressor or turbine would be mashing the housing most likely and giving a very loud noise off.

Mine certainly did when it let a bearing go

If you havent lost power i'd say just a leak somewhere

Thanks all, was just two loose bolts on the 'EGR' (Engine Gas Recirculation) valve, nipped them up and it was fine!
