I'm sure i've seen the car that crashed before, I remember those old volk(?) style wheels and the little fog lamps. Maybe on the for sale sections here, or prestige motorsport? Oh well its just another horrible loss of life, with no winners. Someones wife/daughter/mother wont ever come home, and we import drivers will no doubt cop it hard.

Slow down guys...................

very sad news, my condolences to the family.

I saw Ch 10 NEWS it was on there. One question that i have is why the hell do the media in accident coverage refer to particullar models when they are performance cars (eg: Skyline GTR, Subaru WRX) but if it was a FALCODORRE they never say a thing about the model ?

This stupid news coverage makes all performance car owners look like idiots and a general mentallity of the public thinking that performance car owners are bassically murder's.

Everyone take care and think twice before planting that accelerator. The future of performance cars is in each and every ones hands do the right thing for everyone and save it for the track.

guys nowhere has it said the driver was speeding or even at fault... you are all just as bad as the media by jumping to the conclusion that they were driving dangerously... would you have made that assumption if it was a Falcon!?

hold off on your judgements until you have the facts

From what i know the driver was driving at the speed limit.

The mother and child began to cross the road as he approached, when they saw each other the driver swerved away and unfortunately the woman and child headed for the same direction as the car.

Its a tragedy to see this happen; my sympathies go out to the families.

BTW - to all those passing early judgement, please hold off and gather all the facts before labelling ppl. Accidents are sometimes just that - accidents.

Just saw the story on channel 10 news.

The pedestrians were crossing the road outside Sunshine hospital where there is apparently a lack of traffic lights and people risk their lives crossing Furlong Road.

Driver was released without charge.

By the looks of it, this is as much the fault of VicRoads as it is the driver. They are considering the installation now.

My condolences to the pedestrians and all those affected by this accident.

Just be careful out there and be aware of your surroundings coz people do try to run across the road when they can.

Please note that thr driver was found not at fault by police, and released. That much is confirmed. The above information is correct to the best of my knowledge and yes, they were crossing in an area without a proper crosswalk.

NickR33: At no stage did i lay blame or say speeding was a factor. i quite clearly stated that when you drive save the stupid stuff for the track. maybe you just read it wrong. so hold off your judgment untill you decide to think.

To all those dickheads blaming and calling the driver an idiot, i happen to be the brother of the driver.

he blow nothing on his BAC test, and was not charged with culpable by police.

the story is that he was on the right lane and the two pedestrians started to cross the road, so he moved to the left to miss them but they then went back to the left, most probably in fear and he hit them. his window was then shattered and could not see where he was going, and went onto the other side of the road. there is no crossing present, and the accident was just waiting to happen.

before u start calling the driver an idiot, put yourself in his shoes and imagine the guilt he has to live with for the rest of his life. killing a mother of 7, one of which happens to be a 2 month old baby.

just because the badge on the car says GTR or skyline, doesnt necesarily mean he was speeding. use your brains, its people with comments like that, that create a negative view on modified car owners by the media and public.

Really sorry to hear its your brother. I couldnt imagine how I would cope if it were my brother.

I wouldnt post up his version of events in a situation though like this on an internet forum incase something more comes of the case. Just trying to think of your family. I would take the details bit out (which I havent quoted).

on a slightly different note,

we had a school boy hit and killed by a bus on thursday. he hopped off the bus and then stepped in front of it as it pulled away.

in this case the fault lies with both driver and pedestrian. the bus driver thought the kid had gone to the back of the bus, and didn't pay enough attention (driver aged 73), and the kid walked out in front of it.

it was the drivers second accident in less than a week. earlier in the week he had pulled out on the highway into the path of an oncoming 4wd. after the accident on thursday he was major shock, and is still in a bad way. as bad as it sounds, i think there is a good chance the driver will now take his own life.

Sheez bud - hows ur brother doing? He must be very traumatized by the whole incident - hopefully hes on the way to recovering from it.

The problem here, as we now know, is that the goverment and vicroads were playing "pass the responsibility" - no one wanted to install the lights. It takes a death or 2 for them to realise that "oh...maybe we do need one. Let us decide over a fancy dinner meeting". Idiots. Because of that, everyone see the news, sees an import and then they think "oh....look, a fast car! looks like a gtr - must have been speeding". Its also said, that the government had something like $10 million to install new crossing lights or something (unless i heard wrong) - why it hasnt been used i dunno.

A woman and her 12 yo daughter were struck and killed by a Skyline (probably GT-R) overnight in Melbourne. There was a considerable amount of damage to the Skyline, so I suspect the driver was hoofing it.

I truly hope it was not one of ours.

i feel very sorry for the family and every one involved but i just want to know why the first thread implied probably a gtr wat the f**k does the fact it was a gtr have to do with shit :D

I think the person who posted that, saw from the pictures that the car looked very much like a gtr.

in that case its ok its just the way he put it (probably a gtr) thats all it just wasnt an appropriate way to say it but ill except that cheers emsta

I also live nearby that hospital and agree that its needed a set of lights there for a long time. Visited people there myself and its a no brainer to put a set in there.

The reason is that the hospital has its own parking for x amount per hour. But there is somebody, who (privately) owns a large piece of gravelled land across the road who also does parking for a fraction of the cost of the hospital, hence a lot of people choose to save there coin and park across the road instead and then walk across. Its a common sight to see families, old people, children etc skooting across the road there.

Couldnt even begin to imagine what the driver is feeling right now. May the deceased rest in peace.

    • Yeah its bad eh. Ey! Watch your mouth. Yep, spot on. The rear's are always gone too though from brake checking. I had them perilously close to a tree that we had taken down. I think the tree peeps may have taken it. Either for a trophy, or accidentally.
    • f**kin' yikes! That insulation is the shittest stuff I have ever seen. You need to do an insurance job on that f**ker, pronto. WRT to the washer cover, I would have said that there'd have to be some at a wrecker, then remembered that it's a BMW, and reasoned that every single wrecked one would have been tailgating and so the front end would be trashed.
    • Oh and I lost my headlight washer jet cover!
    • Ok, so I got myself some X1 wheels really cheap to try out, they're a bit different and I like them but they're really narrow (18x8) they are available in staggered 18x8/9 also but really hard to find.  I kinda dig them, but not as much as the F10 19's I usually run, so these go into the wheel pile.         As I mentioned in another thread, I got a new exhaust. It's an off-the-shelf stainless one that fits OH-KAY. I don't love the tips size and how far they come out the back, I think I might cut the tips off and replace with some smaller (~3") ones that don't extend as far. It sounds really good though, I'm not sure if its just in my head but the car feels a little quicker, more responsive.      I fitted an eBay special front lip. Surprisingly it fit perfectly and all holes lined up. Its a little rickety but I haven't put any double sided tape on yet, I want to clean the front bar up where it has scraped the road a lot and fil in the number plate holes (or, get body coloured wrap to cover them - is this a thing?  I'm not sure if I'll leave it gloss or pain it matte. I really like it though, I don't particularly like the front bar without it, I don't really like the M-Sport and to get anything else is just too expensive. That said, I might need a new one now anyway as I dropped the car onto the jack after forgetting to put ramps under the front wheels. It bent a lot and while it did go back to normal after I got the car off the jack, I do fear I have not done it any favours.    Lastly, my headlights died. Different problems in each. They have gotten much dimmer over the past year or so, I put new (uber expensive) OSRAM bulbs in them but to no avail. One of them pointed at the ground and the other just kinda did its own thing with light working sometimes. Yeah, check this 18 year old BMW headlight wire. I reckon I know why they were stuffed.            BTW, the yellow and black is the power to the Xenons. Yikes. I hunted around an researched my options here. I would have loved to just get a replacement harness but not a thing. My car has adaptive headlights, that is they rotate left and right with the steering wheel. Good condition used adaptive xenons were over $700 each, non adaptive were around $400 each, but I couldn't help but think that they're all around 18 years old now, surely they'd have the same problems. So I looked at newer LCI headlights but they were even more expensive and I couldn't confirm that they'd be plug and play with lots of people having lots of opinions so not worth the risk.  I ended up getting brand new Chinese headlights from MARS. They're very close to OEM with only the angel eyes being a bit different. I didnt want crazy turn signals or sharp DRL's or anything. Not my bag.  They're not adaptive, I thought thats a feature I wouldn't really miss. So I coded that out.  The lights are awesome, they look so nice and they take so many years off the car. The angel eyes look great and the headlight brightness is ridiculous. I was so used to the old ones, I didn't realise just how bad they were. The new ones use the OEM bulbs, Xenon ballast and leveller motor which I was happier with. The only issue with them is that the rear cover is held on by SEVEN screws. This will be a nightmare to get to and open when I need to change bulbs.
