Hi guys, I came across this add on ebay for a torque controller. I emailed the seller and asked if it would work on a stagea. He seemed to think it should and offered a refund if it did not work.Thought I would throw it to the group as $$ is a bit tight for me at present, perhaps another stagea owner may like to try it.I am sure I, and most other stagea owners will want one if it is a goer!

cheers.

Scott.

ive got one in my 32gtr. got it like last week can say its excellent. you can really feel the difference using the torqe split function.. however u can switch from 4wd to 2wd while the car is on at a stop, but not the other way around for some reason..

but then again the 2wd switch only for 32 gtr so that should be cool for you guys!

G'day, My name is Justin and I am the seller of the units on eBay. What you are finding regarding the 2WD/4WD switch is normal operation for any ATTESA interceptor such as this. The latest version of instructions that come with the unit indicate that the switch position should be changed when the ignition is off for this reason (but yes you can switch to 2WD while moving).

Incidently, it has been mentioned(falsely) on this forum that the unit I sell is directly based on the Autospeed article. This is totally untrue as the unit on Autospeed is a terrible design and does not work properly. The unit I sell is professionally designed and manufactured. Of all the units sold everyone has been very happy with the unit and I have received only great feedback and testimonials.

Any questions are welcomed at [email protected]

i was on the understanding that you couldnt run the stagea in rwd only as would burn out front clutches or something like that

As it states in the eBay text the 2WD/4WD switch should only be used on R32 GTR's. This is because later ones leave some preload on the clutch packs that can burn them out if run in 2WD. It is not being sold on eBay as suitable for Stageas at the moment. The main functionality of the unit I sell is as a Torque Split Controller and this works well on all models of GTR and I expect Stagea's as well. The question posed to me through eBay was "would this unit work on a Stagea?". My answer was that as it has a similar 4WD system to the GTR I am pretty sure that it would work well but you would have to do further research yourself to confirm that both systems are similar. Of course the 2WD/4WD switch should not be used for the reasons above.

So the offer goes out to other Stagea owners also. I am happy to sell to a Stagea owner with the guarantee that if it does not work as described in the eBay advert I will happily refund the purchase price. I am 99% sure that it will be fine though.

To run your vehicle in 2WD mode, the transfer case will have to be bled and ATTESSA system disconnected electronically. For the R32 GTR, all we need to do is to remove the fuse, which electonically disables the system. Thus to be able to switch between 4WD and 2WD in your Stagea, we will need to modifiy your car by removing the line pressure valve in the 4WD system. The downside of this will be that the ATTESSA system will not react as fast as it should do, due to not having a constant line pressure going to the transfer case, and will react like the slower R32 GTR ATTESSA system.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!)
