the 125 kw per tonne rule is true, i checked it all out 2 months ago when i bought my 32, and its posted on the vicroads website (also 3 liters per tonne, but i dont think you gotta worry about that) The r32 gts-t is about 1 kw under this law.

As for any new laws, they wont apply for people that are already on there P's with a turboed car, if they do introduce them, only to people who get there P's after its brought in or the car (better be that way anyway, bad enough i cant drive my valiant, id love to see them try telling me i cant drive a car which i just bought)

are all r32gts-t's under the limit? i heard that the 1989 model is just over

thanks!

Anyway i dont care now, my dad has already signed a contract for the R34 GT, where getting it from Dandenong Power RD Sales. Got it all checked out n stuff. Plus it seems to have good power for a non turbo. Doesnt really have the pull of the turbo but i'll live.

gotta read those newspapers carefully people! son of rajab knows i have far too much time to read mine at work

the restrictions will only be for the FIRST year of the P's in the new system in terms of a lack of decent cars, the other THREE years (that's right P's will be for 4 years now =/ ) will be as the current system.

as for hoon laws...last i checked they were being looked at but not seriously considered.

It's a great idea.

I was young once too, and had I had a more powerful car, I would have been dead by now. That's not to say that I can't drive, because I CAN handle a car. (See Deca vids )

10 years on the road and track has taught me that.

simple thing is that the faster your car can go, the faster you'll push it when you are young.

Plain, simple, don't try to tell me it isn't true. Cos it is. I've been there.

Everyone over 20 has been there.

NOBODY is a pro driver when they first get their licence, I don't care if you are a Champian race driver, you are inexperienced on the roads.

It's a proven fact anyway that race drivers have MORE accidents than people who don't race.

My 8 year old son could be run over by a driver doing stupid things, or a driver doing normal things.

The less experience you have on the roads and in traffic and one wet side roads, the more likely you are to be one of those two people.

And believe me, if somebody hit my son with their car, I'd be hitting them with MY car and saying 'f**kit' to the consequences.

BASS OUT

This is the first that I've hear that the probabtionary license period will be going for four years as of the 1st of July. (if thats true)..

So: for those of us who already have ouy P's, do we get our full licenses three years after we got our P's or 4???

what i was thinking, i own a r33 and on my Ps = illegal due to the power to weight laws. if they bring in the law banning turbos, v8s etc would i therefore be exempt due to my owning the car before the new laws were brought in? :(

hmmm well.... i say .. what ever the law is at the time, milk it as best that you can.. in that find the most powerfull car you can possibly legally afford.... screw these older users who think these laws are a good idea, purely bassed on the fact that it doesnt affect them!

The 125kw law screwed me... and i dont want anyone to have to go through what i went through, its not fun! (on that note, anyone wanna buy an r33 gts-t? lol)

these laws wont change the fact that there will allways be dickheads on the road. the minorty screwed it for the majority. this is fact :(

for christ sake its not the car its the freaking DRIVERS! ... so ban the drivers, not the cars!

*sick of hearing older responsible opinions, you were young once.. and if this was the case when you were 18, in the market for a sports car, im sure you wouldnt see it the same way you do now!*

Agreed on the opinions of older drivers.

I'd also like to mention that I used to drive alot harder in my 78 golf than my skyline.. in a 78 golf it doesnt matter if u stack it.. Have never been over 120 in the skyline.. got 170 in the golf.. Crappy car doesnt mean u cant speed or hit trees or drag old ladies in barina's off at the lights..

I think our streets are far more likely to run rampart with ricers than hoons anyway. I see 10 Hyundai Excel's dragging me off for every one decent performance car... Ban hyundais..

Oh 89 skyline GTS-T Type-M is what i have and according to most websites its exactly 1 kw under the limit. Some other sites ive read have said that the 91 models are slightly lower and have been equal to about 10 kw under the limit but who really knows. Alot of what you read on the web is BS. Have had alot of cops pull me over though, none questioned me as to whether or not i can drive it. Anything above a gts-t 33 is over. Although the GTS-t is as little as 5-10kw over zz

Because if you were, you have just backed up my point, and the point of the new laws.

Irresponsible driving.

If you had a higher powered car, that 170 would have been 220 and that's 50ks closer to dying and killing someone else.

Geez have a teary, thats life. Deal with it guys. Didn't you ever hear the saying at school "A bad apple spoils the whole bunch".

I don't know HOW many times it's been said but.......ANY car can go fast yes but how much easier is it to loose controll in a high power car around corners, in the wet etc etc. If you guys don't agree with that then you are only fooling yourselves.

You guys bang on like it's the end of your life. So you can't drive a Skyline on your P's, yeah it sucks but most people dont! Being able to drive a high power car on P's is not a right it's a privilege and unfortunately for too long it's been abused. Maybe not by you or the people reading this but the do these things for a reason. Obviously the genral P plate population can not be trusted.

Nah that was my L-Plate car :D and i was making the point that you dont need a fast car to hoon. I got a speed limiter in mine to, so it woulda been only 180. And the 170 wasnt the limit of the golf, twas a beasty little thing. My "high powered" car, the skyline, handles alot better than my golf.. Driving up to king lake the golf would "aqua plane" quite badly in the wet, and on tight corners the body would roll so badly it felt like it would have tipped had the soggy suspension in the back not bounced around, not to mention that the golf doesnt exactly have crumple zones. In my opinion the golf is far more unsafe

The target shouldnt be on hoon cars it should be on hoon drivers.. Or at least on teaching drivers to handle the car better.. Reductions in crashes is more important than reduction in P-Platers who can do the 1/4 mile in under 15 seconds..

Did i mention i got my P-Plates with only 15 hours driving experience in one car and no paid lessons? (even im admitting that thats a joke)
