It would be the same as removing your eye level brake light, if the transport department or police really wanted to they could issue a defect for them being removed. However that said if they are being that picky I think this would be the least of your worries.

15 year old import = no need to install side repeater

SEVS/CPA scheme compliance = need to install side repeater depending on engineering data used to get compliance.

the reason for this is when the GTR was sold locally as an amalgamation model, it was deemed that at one point on the side you couldn't see the front or rear indicators, creating a blind spot, so a repeater was installed. So it is required of subsequent skylines complianced under SEVS or CPA that they match the original GTR's (hence why they also snip the wires to the inside tail lights). But then it seems only SOME compliancers used this data, others used engineering data that proved that side repeaters weren't required.

So to be pulled up for having no side indicators require the issuing officer to have a firm grasp on compliance rules and know how to identify a 15year old import from a SEVS car, and also what engineering data was used by the compliancer.

In short, piss em off.

Haha, thanks for the advice, thats kinda what i was thinking, if someone is going to that level to defect you, there is plenty other things they could go for, most wouldn't notice. And you could play dumb, the car looks so much better without them and unlike the GTR, the gts-t's front and rear 1/4 panels arent as flared, so im pretty sure the indicators would be visible in most/all traffic situations.

i imported a '90 gtr. i checked it at the docks. it had side indicators. this was before compliance. asked the compliance dude - he said all he had to do was side intrusion, child restraints (straight thru the rear speakers, thanls very little) and high mount rear vis light - change fluids, convert mirrors to flat rather than convex, and that was it.

took it over the pits and all they looked for was rivets in doors (to show side intrusion bars) rear high mount brake light and child restraints (how many gtr drivers are gonna stuff their kids into one of these things ???) - check to see no ridiculous intake/turbo/exhaust mods and...

job done.

$3 - $5k thanks for coming.
