hi there fellas, i was wondering if u help me out a bit.

ive done the following modifcations to my r33 gtst:

* blow off

*hybrid fmic

*blitz boost controller

*split dump pipe + front pipe

*hks superdragger cat back

*hi flow metal cat

* gtr fuel pump

after being tuned at 13 psi, it produced 200rwks

however im after a bit more power

i was srsly thinking bout changing my ecu, but im onli a uni student and the cost of buyin, tuning and fitting a power fc would cost me 1500+ which i cant really afford atm.

honeslty im not after a complete engine rebuild and if anything i might buy a bolt on turbo somewhere down the track...but im only after 250rkws at most

i was jus wodnering if anyone could tell me if a piggey back computer would be sufcient for me, such as a safc or a gredy e-manage, which is substanitally cheaper to acheive my aimed power.

are one of these enough? or do i need a power fc..

how much more power will a power fc give me compared to a say a safc..what about a 2nd hand mines ecu?

also do u recommend the follwowing order for my next mods

ecu

injectors

turbo

any other suggestions?

thanks

hold off with a piggy back or ecu until you can afford it

id suggest save for the powerfc because eventually you may want to upgrade your turbo and injectors and all youll need is a re-tune of the power FC, whereas with the piggy back/chip, youll need a new one made for the turbo..ie its mod-specific and cant be tuned.

dont waste your money on the SAFC or similar...youll end up further away from your goal of saving money for a Power FC. Happy for the short term for gaining a little power with the SAFC, but sad in the long run for not having better driveability and power with a full programmable ecu.

ive been there myself with a stockish r33 on uni wages :) i didnt mod it during uni. when i finished and got a real job i sold it and bought a GTR :P

My Power FC installed only gave me a further 13hp top end with a boost increase from 11psi to about 14psi (I turned it down a bit since the tune because I still have ceramic turbo's). The big increase was mid range, because the boost came on a lot earlier than before I got a 45hp boost in the middle of the rev range.

The top end sort of plateaus off early and I think my injectors and fuel pumpa are limiting me at the moment but I have no idea what top end power I will get by upgrading them....

oh, moral, PFC FTW! :)

well, the benefit over factory ecu to make more midrange with the Power FC will be to increase timing at certain RPM points or to lean the mixture off because the factory ecu likes to dump a lot of fuel in on boost for safety

Power FC is all about its features and what it can do and show you what its doing (PFC controller). I think my mid range boost was helped by increasing boost (PRofec B installed). But it came on full a lot quicker...

Hi there. Deffinately POWER FC. You (i presume) are still running the standard

airflow meter where it is probabley very close to maxing out as mine is at 192RWKW.

I thought you could run a z32 with a SAFC but was told that i would run into

problems in doing this. By the way this was said by Nigel at racingline. So now

am running power fc and is much better than SAFC not gaining so much in

overall power but a much smoother and fatter power curve. Nig gained me 15kw

around the 5000rpm mark which you can really feel. :teehee:

Also you should be able to push the stock injectors to around maybe 230-240RWKW

max with a fuel pump (which you already have), and a nismo fuel reg for around

$200. Or you can try Nengun and wait for a little bit but get it cheaper. Hope this helps. :teehee:

second hand SAFC would be good for your next mod. Things start to get very expensive once you pass this stage

Not really....fuel pump, CAI, cam gears and belt and to some extent intercoolers, injectors, brakes and pads. Thats all relatively cheap stuff when it comes to mods. Sub $500 parts besides maybe the latter 3 parts.

When you get into Turbo's, Suspension and Wheels & Tyres it gets expensive. Most people would consider electronics as a major upgrade consisting of maybe a computer, EBC and turbo timer which could come to around $2500-$3000 (thats with a PowerFC and all installed).
