Batteries R32

Just bought a new battery for my R32. Has an RB25DET but the battery is still under the bonnet.

Type is a NS40Z if that means anything to anyone. Just wondering what Number of plates 11 and cold crank amps 340 means??? Seen a few threads stating that 340 is a fairly low number??? True - false???

At first glance, 340CCAs is rather low. My battery is rated at 575CCA and my daily driver (V6 2.6L) is 480CCA.

The number of plates refers to the electrodes within the battery.

Is it starting ok?

Starts fine.....might leave it for a week and see how it goes...

I had a little jap 280cc in mine, that lasted 4years before it came out.

It spun the rb20det over fine but did struggle with the rb30. I dropped an exide 480cc in to mine and 1yr later its started making a bubbling noise from the left side of the battery, its also started leaking every where.

It does have an ever so slight dent in the top as due to its crappy handle design the clamp doesn't have an edge so to speak to clamp down on, instead placing more weight in the center. I don't think they will replace it under warranty but for now off to the wreckers for a cheap s/h $20 battery until it comes back from the exide bloke looking at it.

anyone know of any physically small/lightweight batteries that would be fine to start/run an RB20 with?

the reason i ask is i have a huge 550CCA century battery, and the thing weighs a ton and is physically huge...

all batteries weigh a ton.

^ the delkor i got (660cca) is pysically smaller than my last 550cca battery.

some i've seen only weigh 3 or 4kg

by comparison, i think mine would be closer to 15 to 20kg
