Hey all,

Just saw on the vicroad website that they have introduced a safe driver reward scheme whereby you get a 25% discount on your license renewal when you have received no demerit points for the preceeding 3 years.

Finally Vicroads have opened their eyes and have started rewarding good, safe driving not just punishing bad, dangerous drivers. My years of safe driving have paid off!

Oh a look...

9. How is the Driver Reward Scheme being funded?

The Driver Reward Scheme is being funded entirely from speed camera and red light camera fines.

Cool as.

Cool.

Now I just have to wait 2 1/2 years.

is this in already? how long has it been in?

haley just got off her p's about a month ago, and dont think she's ever been booked....she didnt mention any discount though..

i get off my p's in jan....and no points lost so far!

Small reward for the massive income from Speed Camera's.

If it was 25% off registration & licence renewal... THEN i would say good on them.

$30 off a 10 year licence really isnt much of a reward when you think about how much $30 gets you... not even half a tank of fuel in some cases.

Ye.

Make it scaled to a "capped" limit or something

2 years - 10%

3 years - 15%

4 years - 20%

5 years - 25% and subsequent years

That IMO would be FAR more effective, FAR more rewarding and gives people an incentive to work towards

If i was boss of Vic i tell ya what the way the Vic Pol is run would be turned upside down and get fairness back into the State rather than discrimination.

But meh... a $30 looks good and is easily funded.

Imagine taking approx $140 off for good behaviour... that would STING the gov't to the extent it wouldnt be worth fining people that werent so good...

i like this proposal...it would put me in a profitable postion...however the current proposal is nothing but an insult really...is there an election coming up or something...
