Hi Guys,

I need to replace my Nismo S-Tune suspension, they're rooted.

Considering purchasing either TEIN Super Streets, HSD, or G4.

The G4 ones for the R33 are here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...hl=g4+coilovers

and go for $1399

The HSD Ones are 1549 from www.Flyn.com.au

TEINs fron greenline or nengun

NOW, I saw loads of you have purchased the G4 ones from Justjap, but noone has really posted any reviews on them! Help me out here, anyone care to give me some points ?

Cheers,

my buddy also have a set on his BNr32...and he loves it..

anyways my point isw ....$800AUD for a set of new coilovers...it's a really good deal..in a canadian standerds...because here in canada, even a used set of coilovers like Tein flex goes for $1000 range...

all that said i am not saying the G4 are shit simply because i've never tried them....i am just suggesting another alternitive for cheaper coilovers !

Here's a post from another forum:

FACT: A set of G4's were isntalled into a friends A31 Cefiro at a partner workshop and was found to be leaking oil even before the car had hit the ground.

Personally, I wouldn't trust 'em. A couple of guys have made the observation that they seem to be identical to the D2 coilovers, aside from the colour, and they don't have a stellar reputation either.

But, they are cheap, so if that's your thing......

Can you get your Nismos rebuilt?

Even if that was true, they are backed by a 12 month replacement warranty - pretty good insurance I reckon.

I have heard of a number of people using them who have only great things to say about them, and its based on this and the fact that I can buy them with any spring rates that I want, and know that if they screw up Just Jap will replace them , that im planning on installing a set in my GTS-T.

Here is some feedback straight from the business trader section:

Hey guys just thought i would let you know i went down to just jap on the weekend and bought some of these coilovers after years of rebuilding my ohlins and gabs many of times i decided to buy g4 after talking to darron and tony i made my mind up. i was a bit sus on the r33 ones not having pillow ball tops where all my outher coilovers have had them but after putting them in my car and fine tuning them im so happy with them..

So thaks guys for all the help and i recomend these guys they work really well...

Let me be the first to say these things are excellent, i bought myself a set today from Darron and the boys and they are great, i fitted them today bar a small little problem which i take full responsibilty for (snapped a stud) and they work a treat. The car has never felt this tight and sturdy driving and also sits mega low with sum crazy camber!!!

Hahaha may have to jack em up a bit as the car is to low but all in good fun.

Thanks for this Boys and im sure u will sell these things like hot cakes

Cheers

Nik

man..they are the same shit at KTS coilovers

check out www.KTS-web.com and kts coilovers are 15 way adj. height, compression...everything ! it's the whole deal!

and all that for a price of $800aud aprox. !!

i am rocking a set of my bnr32 now !

it ROCKS!

G4's are 24 way - not 15 way adjustable.

If you buy KTS from overseas, and they fail - then what?

If I buy G4 and there is a problem, the sole dealer for them is here in Sydney and I know I can rock in there and receive a replacement - simple ;)

I need coilovers for the track. I've heard of them bending on people after hitting a ripple strip. I had teins before and hit a few ripple strips and they weren't remotely close to bending.

I don't think warranty covers the track for those who might want them for that they should look into it :|

i'm sure there is nothing wrong with G4 or whatever for their price, but you already have NISMO suspension. I would be getting that reconditioned if i was you.

So many people seem to base their opinions solely on what they have "heard", rather than their own experience and frankly, the bending story sounds like garbage to me - im sure there is more to it

Why wouldnt warranty cover track use? Do you think that manufacturers who produce coilovers designed and marketed for circuit and drift applications are going to deny a warranty claim if their product has faulted during motorsport use?

I dont think so, but you could always ring Just Jap and ask them for yourself if you have your doubts.

Hi mate,

I believe person you are referring to was a particular Peugeot owner who, as it happens, purchased the shocks and did not just run over the ripple strips at all, but went right off the side of the track and made a massive impact with the raised section coming back on, thereby sustaining damage to the shock in the form of a bent strut top.

This particular customer is very well known as had tried to pull a variety of stunts with a number of other suspension stores around Sydney, being extremely rude and unreasonable when he hasnt got his way.

This is the one and only major damage case that we have heard of, and it was certainly no fault of the G4 product.

I'd like to point out that we have seen the exact same thing happen in cases of major impact with most other brands of coilovers also, including the more expensive Japanese makes. It does not matter weather you are running HKS Hyper-D, Tein Flex or G4, if you have an incident on the track or street in which one of your front struts sustains a huge impact like this customer, then its unrealistic of you to expect you will come away without any damage at all to your suspension.

As we have posted and promoted since starting to sell G4, we will never retail a product that we see as inferior or lacking in the quality we would expect and demand if we were using the product in our race/street cars.

Not only do we sell G4 Racing coilovers at the best prices available in Australia, but we back this up with the highest standard of after sales support possible. If you G4 fails to perform as it is intended, or suffers fault, we will replace it, and we carry hundreds of sets in stock at any one time to enable us to provide quick and easy turnaround for our customers should this replacement be required - Furthermore we carry a full range of spare parts right here in stock, and can supply our customers with tailored spring rates to suit your vehicles application or your own ride preferences.

Great value, proven performance and 12 month replacement warranty and choice of spring rates.

This is why our customers keep buying.

I hope this clarifies a few things - we welcome any questions you guys might have so dont be afraid to ask.

Cheers,

Steve Thatcher

Installed a set of these onto a R34 the other night. Here's a few little points:

1) Easily installed with absolutely no hassles, everything just dropped in and lined up perfectly.

2) Adjustments are easy to make: ride height, spring tension and damper.

3) Vast improvement over standard suspension... car feels a lot stiffer and drive is much more controlled.

4) Obviously not anywhere as good as the TEIN or CUSCO units, but I'm going to say that these are bang for buck!

As for any problems later on, won't comment on that as we won't know for quite some time I would imagine.

So many people seem to base their opinions solely on what they have "heard", rather than their own experience and frankly, the bending story sounds like garbage to me - im sure there is more to it

Since owning a car the majority of the things I've done, bought, modified or otherwise been involved in has been because I've "heard", or more correctly, read, it on places like SAU. If a few people post up saying that x has happened then I will mentally note that. Even though you have your bullshit filter on because it's not automatically true if it's on the internet.

Having said that all I said was those purchasing these with the intention of using them on the track, AND who want to take your idea of using warranty as insurance should double check if they can. This is for those who might take what they've heard from you and act on it, without having checked it out authoritatively :)

Meanwhile I'm going to wait for Satanic's experiences and see what he says...

Read my post above... it all went in smoothly and works just fine. Compared to stock suspension they are as stiff as most other wangs out there :(

Nick is right though, any company that markets something for "track" or "drift" use should be prepared to honour any warranty claim of damage from events that are just as described. This is of course provided you didn't take your car off-roading and say it was "kinda like a track" :D

i'm sure there is nothing wrong with G4 or whatever for their price, but you already have NISMO suspension. I would be getting that reconditioned if i was you.

Good Idea, in theory. But the NISMO ones I have have 4-way damper adjust, the front damper control is snapped away, the rear damper adjusts are on the side of the shock (pain in the ass to get to, and you cant see the actual setting its on) and most importantly, they are not height adjustable :| Bleh!

Might aswell go for some shinier blue ones too

Cheers for all your comments guys, looks like I'm going to call Just Jap over the next few days and get some sent out to me
