Fat32 I believe the top row are batch numbers and the bottom number is the cartridge or CHRA (centre housing rotating assembly) part number .

My lists show that cartridge being in complete units numbered 725560-0005 (.64AR) , 472560-0006 (.86AR) , 472560-0013 (no AR shown) . The AR's being turbine housing AR .

The 2535's are unique in that the compressor wheel is supposed to be 69mm OD rather than 71.1mm for the GT35 series wheels . My lists show that compressor wheel as 69 x 51.6mm and 56 trim . I suspect HKS had Garrett Japan reprofile a 71.1mm wheel down to this spec in order to be less laggy than the 2871 series ie GT-RS . Actually the 2535 has been around longer than the GT-RS - from HKS anyway - and I'm surprised they don't turn up on RB26's where people want a bit more than 2530's do but less lag that 2871's/GT-RS's have . The HKS blurb shows 2535's doing 340PS so it fitted in between 2530's and 2540's which are supposed to be rated at 320 and 350 PS .

Any more pics ?

Cheers A .

Was the compressor wheel changed as it looked a bit chipped in the before shot .

Cheers A .

No, there were 3 small nicks in the leading edge of the compressor wheel that were blended out. They look worse in the before pic than they really were and they blended out nicely :D

I'm amazed at the subtle differences after the overhaul ! The turbo boosts up quicker and is a lot quieter ( especially when it spools down after turning off the engine ). It makes sense but I just didn't expect any changes.

When all boiled down its just a HKS spec Garrett GT BB turbo based on the GT25BB centre section . If the bearing cartridge and housing seals were stuffed I'm not surprised if it was a bit gritty .

As I said it would have been interesting to see some pics of the compressor before the cover went on .

Cheers A .
