AzzurrA
Afternoon, Before everyone says "do a search" - i have, couldn't really find much useful info. What are everyone's opinions of Mitsubishi FTO's? The reason i ask, is my brother currently has a series IV RX7, and as he only has a part-time job, the servicing/fuel bills are sending/keeping him broke. I want him to step 'down' into something a bit slower, but also newer/more comfort etc, more reliable, and something that is going to be easily serviced. Been looking around online, FTO's seem to be an okay choice, i mean, look good, sound phenomenal, aren't OVERLY slow, seem to handle okay etc, just wondering what everyone else's opinions of them are? he will have around 12 - 14k to play with, so if you can think of any other cars in that price range that meet those criteria, please, post them up Jason Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/124453-mitsubishi-fto/ Share on other sites

AzzurrA
nothing wrong with FWD... and yes, they have an absolutely astounding exhaust note... almost to the point where you need a box of tissues when a nice one drives past they sound like an F1 car, hehe Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/124453-mitsubishi-fto/#findComment-2299327 Share on other sites

MANWHOR3
I researched quite a bit into ftos when I bought my skyline. My overall impression of them is they are a nice cruiser, but are not overly quick. The handling is ok. I'd say it's comparable to a prelude in terms of performance and handling. you really need to get the engine cooking before it goes quick. But they are generally quite nice all overe. Perfect if your friend isn't really into 'performance' driving. Bliksem
I used to own one, you're right, they are a reliable car that isnt over quick. Pretty much thr only things I miss about it is the exhaust note and the interior. Perfrormance wise, not much happens below 5k. See if you can find a manual one, definately worth the extra time trying to find one, though it took me forever. Are you sure your brother will like going to a fwd after the RX7 though? thorpe84
i have been in an fto before, PHUCK THEY ARE SMALL my head was almost touching the roof and i could barley move at all. not sure about performance or how they are to drive though. when i got my r33 i was amazed how much room there was in the back for a jap coupe. LBR33
This turbo FTO was built in brisbane using a VR4 Galant engine then upgraded turbo (Garrett T04B). So options are available but FWD does become a problem Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/124453-mitsubishi-fto/#findComment-2322076 Share on other sites
ylwgtr2
HahaA turbo'd 4WD FTO - if only such a road version was made. Im glad you asked....i actually have one that i transplated an EVO engine into...i ended up cutting the rear floor pan out of the evo and started to stitch it into the FTO...i used the DE2A model(4 cylinder 4G15 powered version)...its still sitting in my freinds garage in japan...i just may finish it one day Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/124453-mitsubishi-fto/#findComment-2322095 Share on other sites
