If you know jack all about computers then Dell aren't too bad. I recommend Dell desktops to friends when I couldn't be arsed getting a phonecall at 1am on a Saturday from a mate that's just gone to a porn site and his machine keeps rebooting...

Dell LCD monitors = good

Dell Lappies = good value

Two places with decent prices but iffy service are (depends who serves you):

Computer World (Auburn and City) - www.cworld.com.au

FluidTek (Carlingford) - www.fluidtek.com.au

Once again, go with a list or at least a good idea of what parts you want, get them, and get out of there...

Ever thought of getting an LCD TV with PC inputs, B-man? At least that way you won't always have to have the PC running to watch regular TV.

Ever thought of getting an LCD TV with PC inputs, B-man? At least that way you won't always have to have the PC running to watch regular TV.

Thought of that - and would be my preference - Problem is the LCD TVs are mosty 1633 x 768 resolution (HDTV Standards I think) - the 786 is shit resolution on a 30" screen - the icons are MASSIVE.

Best monitor I have seen is the Apple 30" - but yeah it's liek $4k or something.

Thanks for everone's help

Problem with buying a system is that you don't know what dodgy parts they put in it - Problem with building it yourself is that you have to spend heaps of time researching which bits are the best.

Just like modifying a car ! ! ha ha ha ha

They're close by MSY, around where Croydon motorsport is. They pretty much price their items to MSY's prices. Better yet, you can talk to them and they're not as rude as MSY. Even better is that you don't have to wait 50 years to line up for piss poor service.

Fluidtek @ rydalmere...

its infront of kens korean bbq place.. sorta lol

this is a place liek MSY.. you may even find this place cheaper the MSY but the service OMFG you will want to crack the guy he thinks he is kingsh*t running his computer shop. you'll know who im talking about when your there.. i only recommend it cuz most of us would rather spend as little on everything else other then our cars

Hmmm... I actually have a brand new Dell 24" (2405FPW) that I bought about a few months ago on the bulkbuyer.com.au for $1250 delivered.

It's been sitting in the box since I took delivery of it, and I've only JUST taken it out to use to setup my Media Centre. It's been turned on for a total of about 10 hours

As ashamed as I am to admit it, I'm thinking that it might be a little too big for my desk.

Interested? Make an offer :/

OK, well - the 2407WFP is $1199 inc GST & delivery on the Dell Web site right now.

My offer is $900. But can't pick it up until after 13th July (when fundage happens) - if acceptable to you Andrew.

The 20" Dell LCD is $1049 though, so I'd be paying extra to downgrade. No chance of that I'm afraid  My momma didn't raise no idjits!

You'd best be buying that 24" LCD in the next two days though, put it on credit card or something. Because it's going to go back upto $1500 on Friday!

Haha Eddie at fluidtek

Decent prices, decent location (for me anyway) but customer service is zero and God forbid you try to return anything..!
