Turbo Noises! Good Or Bad?

Hey,

I have an aftermarket turbo on my skyline and recently when coming on boost it has started to make a whining noise kind of like its winding up. it sounds the same as some high powered supras ive seen videos of.. but it never used to be that noticable..

Is it something to worry about or is it just normal?

It hasnt affected the performance at all.. just sounds heaps cooler now lol.

i have a highflow turbo and mine also makes this sound......but its been like that since i bought it

that sound is just the ballbearing in the turbos centre rotating cartitrige i think its all normal

have you checked for shaft play? my turbo started making the same sound recently, you can hear the induction noise, and then it starts whining like a hairdryer... its a stock rb20det turbocharger, so im going to have to upgrade soon (it's dying). your turbo may be on it's way out too, get it checked!

i knw the very sound. i got that on my gtir when i installed a FMIC and on the S14 when i upped the boost. i thiought it was more airflow.
