Track Times

Check Jason Edlgey's times in a love boat, first time at Wakefield and 2nd time ever at any track and 1 min 52 semi slicks stock engine and turbo's full road bling trim. They don't all ware cardigans and smoke a pipe.

Slot car went well 1 min 45.56, KAAZ fixed traction problem although being 2 way it pushes the car into a few corners so looking at doing something here. Reedy if looking here what is your KAAZ one or 1.5 or 2 way?

Can't wait for the big one with the SAU Vic boys 10th November.

John got a 1.5 way I believe it doesn't lock up so much under braking?

Had a great day as well boys especially the last few sessions.

Thanks to Abo and boys for organising it.

nice work on your times reedy, i see you are chipping away nicely.

1.5 is definately the go for circuit work. why you bought the 2 way is beyond me johnny boy.

I saw someone taking photos at the last turn into the straight a few times. Silver Arrows maybe?

I hope there are some of mine.

The more I think about it, the more I realise how much fun I actually had, and how much I really would prefer to be back out there than sitting here in my cubicle at work infront of this damn laptop.

some good times there guys (some not so good! lol).

I would have liked to have been out there, but a massive sat night, and sunday on the couch in front of the 2.6 metre wide screen with bathurst on meant there was no chance.

I'm actually a little suprised with some of the times, I would have expected more!

good work to John on FTD! that dude in the zed is doing a good job of a 1:52 first time out too.

well theres no excuses for you next time..

you can come show us newbie's hows its done

yes, 1.5way is the goer for track use, unless you are into that weird sideways driving.

silver, i dunno about showing the way, i'm no track master! lol. certainly no gun driver either, i think my first time at EC was 1:58s :D since then down to 1:54.6 but hoping to be a little better next time. still driving my poor little R32... hehe.

thanks to those who organised it and the flaggies.

had fun playing cat and mouse with stan

more track time would of been great but had to shoot off.

Fun watch the cat n mouse.!

Seemed like when the wind changed alot of people left.

Just wanted to say thanks to Adam for setting up this great day and to whomever was involved that I didnt get to meet yesterday. There was clearly a lot of work that went into making this day happen and to all involved well done.

I was really stoked to run a 1 min 52.614 told you Adam the tune would help

There was a few interesting cars I had some tussles with. A 1977 mustang type celica had some mumbo down the straight but lacked in the corners. A white R33 with semis? was going great but seemed to struggle in the corners also.

I trailer the car as I have the slicks fitted for track days and it saves me the hassle of trying to fit all my tools etc and tyres into the zed and is also a saftey factor in case something goes bang!!

Next time out I will hopefully be chasing down a few of those top 5 cars.

Cheers

J

The RX7 had a split fuel line. The reason the guys couldn't put the fire out probably is because the lines were on fire from front to back of the car.

I've been over to the RENEW website and they have been effusive with their thanks for the flaggies efforts. We all really appreciate you guys.

Check my new sig :D

Here is the rest of the times.

I cant find the link to the thread?

Regardless, I had a ball. So much fun. Soooo much fun. Sorry I didn't open her up and get her sideways near the guys at turn two. I didn't want to burn the tires this time around, I have no more monies for new ones after that Oran day!

Dont worry mate - that pipe of yours sounds awesome on corner exit :D

    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
