Anyone had any exp with using this boost control kit as an add on with a D-Jettro Kit?

My current HKS EBC has died. So just wondering would it be better to add a boost controler that matches my Power FC with hand controler rather then buying a seperate EBC etc.

Any advantages / disadvantages etc.....

Any info would be helpful

Cheers

So when you say not as flexible what extra functions would I be missing by using the add on kit? besides not having a box stuck under my knee:) or is the fact that I dont have little knobs to adjust the boost as quick with as having to use the hand controller to adjust boost? or a LCD readout etc

advantages

cheap

control and logging on hand controller

works well

disadvantages

not as flexible as some of the more expensive boost controllers

some of the other boost controllers offer extra features like boost mapped to gear , boost mapped to rpm , scramble mode ,

the powerfc kit just has 4 boost settings and thats it pretty much no extra fancy crap . you get an lcd readout on the hand controller

its a single solenoid as well(like avc-r), so if u planning for big turbos with external gates better get a dual solenoid EBC.

The solenoid is the same one from the Super-AVCR. I have it running with my power fc and it works well...holds boost very steady with my GT3540R and 48mm ext. gate

Also the current turbo config I run is 2 X 2860R's with standard BOV's internal waste gates. Not planning to change turbos for a long time yet.

The reason for the add on kit is its hard wired into my current ECU no wanky LCD extras for punks to steal and and if its cost effective and does the correct job and holds to rock boost then why not.

But just curious how many boost setting do it need?? I mean can I have a setup where I have one for normal metro driving, one for country and one for hero's that im trying spank?

Info?

yeah thats the way it works multiple settings for different boost levels

the single avcr solonoid is pretty good and has been used successfully on many big bo0st cars

the only real problem with it is its tied to your powerfc , so if you change that you have to change to another ebc

    • Yeah, you are right. It seems easier and more reasonable to boost the engine. And as you said the blocks are very similar but the cylinder bores are different.
    • Sound logic, but in actuality way more illegal than just having the wrong pipe. Normally, doing something like that would be forgery. Meaning you may have certain documentation for vehicle parts, but the actual parts are different ones and you just assign them the numbers and badging from the documents. But nevermind that. Nonetheless, I AM curious if this pipe was ever made by any official manufacturer this way, because I honestly am not familiar with this pipe layout and shape. As I will be putting on the HKS Silent Hi Power once my exhaust gaskets arrive, as long as it sounds right I will just roll with this front pipe. I can always order the actual Mines part if I run into legal issues. It would be an unnecessary expense as there is lots of other problems I have on this car as of now.
    • So, weld a plate with the Mines logo laser cut into it, onto it. Instant Mines pipes, whether they were or weren't originally.
    • I don't know if the blocks are "the same". They will be very very similar. Obviously, either the bore or the stroke is going to be bigger on the 20. If the bore is bigger, then the 18 head is unlikely to fit properly. If the bore is the same, then you can almost certainly fit the CA18 head, but there migth be a few fun things you have to do to make water galleries (or other things) line up properly. Or... it could just be real easy. Is it worth the effort? Almost certainly not. You can make nearly as much power on a 2 valv ehead as you can on a 4 valve. There's not any "magic" in a 4 valve head.
    • Yes, me too!!!!  I need to find a something that has all the abbreviations for what these cars have LOL
