Gday Folks,

Much to my dismay, whilst pulling my gearbox apart (RP71C) RB20DET - this little bullet shaped bearing was on my drop cloth after i rolled the box over. I have no idea where it came from. Ive been pretty careful to bag and tag and photograph everything but I have no idea where this little sucker came from! I think it might be to hold one of the selector rods in place when in gear but Ive accounted for all the ball bearings that do that!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

^^^ not any more..

As you're doing a R32 gearbox, you could try and get a hold of the R32 engine/repair manual.. it's the only one that has the gearbox details in it..

Actually.. just had a look through.. couldn't find it.. so there goes that idea.. there's an interlock ball.. and another one..

Don't you just hate that.

My son and I were doing his clutch and found a single 4mm dia ball bearing on the drop sheet.

Had us absolute stuffed as there is NO-WHERE for it to go.

Rang a clutch EXpert and he thought it went in the flywheel dowel pin hole to balance the crank.

I thought bullshit as there is nothing to stop the ball from just falling out to get minced in the clutch plate.

Finally discovered my big socket set was now missing the ball from its square drive.

We'd used it and a heap of extensions to get at those bell housing top bolts.
