I had the same problem with my R32, got a secondhand AFM off this site for $40 or something, worked like a charm. If there's none on this site maybe try jap wreckers.

It's simple to change it over too, I did it myself and i'm useless.

oh ok, are the r32 and r33 AFM's teh same? becuase i have found a few of them for sale....

will they work with my RB25?

green sticker and pink sticker are different. I beleive the RB25DET is pink sticker (mine is, and it's a series 2)

oh thast strange...

i just pulled off and its a GREEN sticker.... my car is a 1994 R33...

why is yours pink and mine green?

green sticker is series 1, pink sticker is series 2 R33.

What are the symptoms that have indicated its death?

well..... i was driving along the highway and it started to jump and splutter... it has just had a major service with timing belt and full diagnostic... and everything this is fine, it was going better than it ever has beofre, got to an overtaking lane and it died....

so i got it to teh side of the road and popped the bonnet, i knew what it was becuase it has happened to me in another car, so immeditaly i unplugged the afm and it would idle perfectly and it would rev slightly..... the instant moment i plug the afm back in the rev drop and it coughs and splutters and dies.... i unplug... restart and its fine again, so it HAS to be the AFM....

I had the same problem with my AFM. They get dry joints inside the sealed area where it connects to the PCB. I ripped mine apart and resoldered all the connections, whacked it back together and sealed it all with silicone and it didn't miss a beat for the next 1.5 years.

Worth a shot

    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
    • Wasn't there a thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago?
    • Hi all! Looking to relocate the battery to the trunk of an R34 GTT. I want to do it using as many stock GTR components as I can (including the harness protectors from the 34 GTR that run underneath along the chassis to the engine bay). So far I’ve purchased the battery tray from a 33 GTR, as the captive weld nuts are already there just asking to be used. There is also the slight issue of now having to relocate the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU, which in GTT’s sits right above where the battery will then sit on the tray. Has anyone already achieved this, and if you have any pics that you wouldn’t mind sharing? It would be great to see how others have done it and where you put them, as there are countless holes in the parcel shelf panel to potentially use. Just trying to get some ideas bounced around, and to help uncover any potential problems I may encounter by  my choice of location. TIA for any help!
    • Brand was ard.   I also threw a brand new battery at it and beefed up the wire from the alternator to battery and added an extra earthing point from the battery
