hi guys i am currently doing mods to my rb20 i need to know before 2moro should i bother with getting it change to external wastegate and high rising my turbo or not? how much of a difference will it make please help. i need advice

Totally pointless im afraid. You wont get any performance gain for the $$ spent.

The more stock you make it look the less hassles you have. Ther is absolutely no gain to make this turbo hi-mount and ext. gate. I really hope you mechanic is not feeding you this info to squeeze more money from you, if so go to another w/shop

Just ask them to match port the ext. manifold, to improve flow.

Dont bother at all.

Converting to external/high mount is simply a waste of money as you probably wont get one extra KW from it

Mate basically your turbo wont be able to run an ex gate, as (i assume) its a high flowed stock turbo which already has an internal gate.

Bloody pointless high mounting it other than the wank factor as there is NOTHING to be gained & those $$'s u save can go elsewhere on ur car

P.S i'm right in saying an originally internally gated turbo cant be convertoed to external? especially stocko?

no you can change a internall wastegate to stock i know that my mate did on his standard turbo

yeah, just weld the internal gate closed.

but yeah, just get a good low mount manifold and leave it internally gated.

in my eyes welding it shut is a dodgey fix, this would have to adversely affect the flow of the turbo? causing boost problems?
