Well maby you should keep it legal and you wont have anything to be fined for...!

Seriouslly i hate it when people crap on about how hard they were done by the police "cry cry cry". If you dont want a ticket you should obey the law....

No excusses...

BTW. I have been fined twice back in 2001 and both times I was in the wrong and i admitted it and took the tickets and even said "Thank You". If you do the crime you do the time...

If you dont modify your car according to the law then you pay the fine.

etc...

Amen to that, thats 100% spot on.

BUT... its not good if that just pull up every import that goes past, and let guys in aussie cars go past without a drama. There must be a reason for it, though. Cops are not idiots, they would be pulling over whomever they have the most dramas with. Obviously they have had more dramas with imports than aussie cars as far a defecting goes.

If we all follow ADR guidelines, then eventually they'll stop pulling us over. Its cause and effect.

I aggree that imports and the like are popular with the cops... But thats only cause they get som many fines out of them...

Im sorry i jumped the gun I just dont have any sympithy for those who moan that there hard done by...

I drive in a sensible manner on the road most of the time and leave my stupidity for the track.

If i was to be fined for being a knob then id take it on the chin.

For the record. I have owned 4 skylines over the last 5 years and have NEVER been pulled over in this time...

It all comes down to drivier attitude... I will admit that some times its "Wrong place at the wrong time"

But i avoid those places and times... ;)

but the laws are a joke, 80% of the defects are a waste of time.

Yeah i agree with you.Half the time they dont know what is standard on some cars ie the battery in the boot in 33's he didnt believe me that its standard issue.

yeah, even something as simple as unboxed pod filters, wheel sizes, bonnet vents etc which pose no problem if common sense is used, are all outlawed.

I think that if the regulations were more realistic and made more sense, there would be less dramas. Most of us use common sense and dont have anything anyone would consider dangerous or offensive (noise etc), but are still frowned upon, and although ive been careful with my car, there is bound to be something on it defectable.

Some cops are decent, others arent. not all are bad, not all are good, a lot of them are just doing their job. remember that they dont make the rules, and THEY get in shit if they dont enforce them.

I had to whip out my manual to prove that a stagea comes with a turbo 6 from factory. A big problem is they assume the worst.

i was driving in a sensible manner and i dare say the majority of the ones that were getting done also were.It was no where near the usal spot where other drivers go.Oh well

Heeee...

One night i saw a guy get fined for a non standard engine...

It was a old volvo turbo... I dont know much about volvos but the guy who got the ticket was fairlly nice and said to the police. "Its the stadard engine in this model" The police man ripped him a ticket and told him to shut the %%%% up and that he was no born yesterday.

The guy took the ticket and laughed it off. He was a bit upset about his treatment and continued to explain to us it was factory and we believed him. Why would he need to lie to us...?

So yeah sometimes it's BS...

geezzzz you ask one question and i get a daddy lecture!!.

I'm with you R334door

Thats the only reason I don't drive my line around that much (its lucky to come out on a weekend) I'm worried every time I go out for a drive in it. If you get pulled up they will fined you for something dumb like too big wheels or to wide wheels or a harness or something dumb like that and thats bl**dy stupid in my books because those three thing can save more lives then take them

Ill be completelly honest...

I have one defective part on my car...

I have a SSQV HKS valve venting to atmosphere...

But what i have done to make it legal in the eyes of the law is modify a small pod filter over the front of the valve. This way it can function the way it is meant too and its filtered and therefore legal.

If i was to be ticketed for this i would take the ticket and then dispute the ticket with the transport department and use their own rules and regulations.

Because the reason BOV's have to be plumb back is so they are filtered by the cars air filter. You can by all means filter the BOV in a seperate filter... Thats quite legal.

Hehe, I was parked at milton a while back and a police officer on a bike asked me to pop the bonnet on my silvia........I looked at him very confused considering I was driving a Black R33 Skyline at the time!

Good to see that these cops aren't stupid and know what they're talkin about. :D

and for the record, he saw my modification plate and was happy with that. Just as well too, would have been interesting to see what he would have fined me for...."incorrect badging of a Nissan S13 Silvia". ;)
