both are needed..... The area one doesnt bother me. but i know a few poeple who do live distance from most and do like having it as its a way to meet other locals without using the whoretown...

and as of the un-official event section,, good place to put in cruises,or other stuff..., so everyone can see it without having to search for it...

my 2 cents.

I really think the area specific thread are a good thing, especially from the point of view of someone who is from a regional area.

Things like asking who is a good mechanic in the wide bay area in the brisbane waste land area is going to be a waste of time and making a dedicated thread seems fairly wasteful and pointless.

well being from outside brisbane/goldcoast area, i find it alot easier to communicate with people in my area in the one thread. also people who live in area specific places find it easier to see what ppl are up to without having to sort back through pages of whoretown threads incase some1 they know has posted. but i mean we dont need one for every single town along the coast, just general areas.

even though i live on the coast i still chat to ppl from other areas in the whoretown, but alot of ppl just want to find something out in there area in a hurry and dont spend hours on the computer trying to find out.

maybe u could have a non - official events section in the events area. that would sort that problem out aswell.

Specific Area:

I think it will be a good idea because like most people have said we have connect with people in our own local area. I think it would be a good idea as long as people use it.

Un-official Events:

I think that if someone wants to plan a event, they have every right to do so, however I think if they want to make it an offical event they have to bring it up with someone on the Forums (Head of SAU QLD?) and see if that can be done, because alot of people like going on cruises, even the weekly Thursday night and Saturday night ones.

If they don't want to bring it up with someone on the Forums such as the head of SAU QLD, then yes it should be posted in a unoffical forum.

Yeah Aron the events area is back and its for all events...

Official or un-official. So post all your thursday night events and so forth in the events section, thats what we brought it back for.

Any official events need to be approved by the club (once again separate to the forum).

An official event will be made sticky in the main qld section if open to all users.

Members only events will always be posted in the members area. Which is only accessable by payed qld members.

Cheers Col

If you have any questions about posting events then please PM me. If you want to get together for an official event then please PM 'Mud'.

Thanks for that. I'm only new here so still getting the hang of how things work.

I'll be a payed member soon, when I get the Skyline back on the road I'll get my act together and become a payed member. :D

Thanks for all of that though mate!

Quotes taken from the 2nd last page of the Sunny Coast thread wich I think demonstrates how useful it was...

who is going up to the rally start? (mooloolaba)

he charges bcoz he's a qualified engineer, not just a mechanic. so that is why he demands a higher amount for his work, but atleast u know itll be done properly.

yes you would think that wouldnt you! Even an egg can install injectors without breaking the Orings, making it stream fuel out and all over your engine. a little vassoline doesnt go astray when fitting them! Tuning, well I wont get started there.

Maybe my car was the only one where I had to redo all his work and get it tuned again by someone else, but I doubt it!

Rhys

Any one from the sunny coast coming to the dyno day at godzilla motorsport?

I am going to run the R and see what she puts out!

Go to ARB to sign a petition to get a drag strip/ circuit complex built in Landsborough. smile.gif

Thought I'd drag this one up again.. Now I've decided to stick with the Wolf. Apparently Chapmans have done a bit of work with Wolfs. What are their prices like. I think I'll give em a ring. Interested in any info on past experiences people have had.

It's either them or fork out $800 odd plus transport to get Matty at PITS to tune it.. confused.gif

I'd spend the extra money and get the work done by a tuner who is one of the best in qld, matt spry. I've been in a few cars done by him now comared to other workshops and i'd have to say his tunes are the best.

Some may be re-opened but it will never be sticky'ed i can assure you of that...

Sticky's are for official events and very important topics only... Whoretown is an exception...

so is the sunnny coast post unlocked now?

Not yet sam but its looking good...

We are giving the poll 7 days...

In the mean time if you have specifics to talk about just start a new thread.

cool,

I dont think that the sunny coast post thread needs to be stickyed, it was always on the front page away, but it would be great if it was reopened. :)

    • Hi guys, has anyone either purchased or built themselves a rotisserie for their car before? I can only just justify the need for one hence why I should just make one but at the same time, if I make one I can kiss another 4 weeks of potentially productive car working time goodbye because I'm building a bloody rotisserie....  I mainly want it for the application of the body deadener.  Cleaning the old stuff off, priming and then colour over the deadener doesn't worry me, it's just the application using the Schutz Gun that I feel would achieve a significantly better finish painting it side on and keeping the Schutz Gun upright.  I don't think they would work well on the side let alone almost upside down for some areas.  If the product I use (Terosun, etc) could work through a HVLP ok then it might be ok to apply without the rotisserie.   I can get one of these style ones for about $1200 which is pretty good value-     I reckon if I made one it would cost around $500 but it's more the time that it would take is more of a killer than the cost.  They look to hold their value pretty well second hand so I could always sell it after using it and realistically only lose $200-$300 at worst.  Or keep it and buy another project when this one finally sees the light of day... Anyone selling one...? Cheers!
    • While it is a very nice idea to put card style AFMs into the charge pipe (post intercooler, obviously), the position of the AFM and the recirc valve relative to each other starts to become something that you really have to consider. The situation: The stock AFM is located upstream the turbo, and the recirc valve return is located between the AFM and the turbo inlet, aimed at the turbo inlet, so that it flows away from and not through the AFM. Thus, once metered air is not metered again, neither flowing forwards, or backwards, when vented out of the charge pipe. When you put the AFM between the turbo outlet and the TB, there is a volume of pressurised charge pipe upstream of the AFM and there is a volume of pressurised pipe downstream of the AFM. When the recirc valve opens and vents the charge pipe, air is going to flow from both ends of the charge pipe towards the recirc valve. If the recirc valve is in the stock location, then the section between it and the TB doesn't really matter here - you're not going to try to put the AFM in that piece of pipe. But the AFM will likely be somewhere between the intercooler and the recirc valve, So the entire charge pipe volume from that position (upstream of the AFM, back through the intercooler, to the turbo outlet) is going to flow through the AFM, get registered as combustion air, cause the ECU to fuel for it, but get dumped out of the recirc valve and you will end up with a typical BOV related rich spike. So ideally you want to put the AFM as close to the TB as possible (so, just upstream of the crossover pipe, assuming that the stock crossover is still in use, or, just before the TB if an FFP is being used) and locate the recirc valve at the turbo outlet. Recirc valve at the turbo outlet is the new normal for things like EFRs anyway. In the even of a recirc valve opening dumping all the air in the charge pipe, pretty much all of it is going to go backwards, from the TB to the recirc valve near the turbo outlet. But only a small portion of it (that between the TB and the AFM) will pass through the AFM, and it will pass through going backwards. The card style AFMs are somewhat more immune to reading flow that passes through them in reverse than older AFMs are, so you should absolutely minimise the rich pulse behaviour associated with the unavoidable outcome of having both a recirc valve and an AFM in the charge pipe.
    • Yep, in my case as soon as I started hearing weird noises I backed off the tension until it sounded normal again. Delicate balance between enough tension to avoid that cold start slip and too much damaging things.
    • I'm almost at a point where I feel like changing the alternator. Need to check the stuff you mentioned first though.
