i'd say it'd probably be cheaper to buy a turbo'd motor. if he is doing it with all new parts its going to cost a bit.

a quick list of parts are-

turbo

dump/front pipe

intercooler and piping

fuel system

pistons

all up you will be looking at a few thousand dollards (about $3500 minimum i'd say), then labour on top of that. if you were using second hand bits it would be cheaper.

a front cut will set you back about $2000-$2500, and then about $1000-$2000 for the conversion. less if you can do most of it yourself.
